What I mean is if one young person in a family commits crimes, can this cause the family to be more proactive to tougher laws for teens.

It depends on the situation and the psychology of the family members. If teens misbehave and commit a crime it shows a failure in upbringing or maybe some bad outside influence. Either way the person committing the crime has to realize that he/she should not repeat it. So the family could be proactive towards tougher laws which could be beneficial to the errant child in the long run.

I think each family would react in entirely different manner to something such of this. It would be based on morals, values and personal beliefs. Any parent should respect any law reguardless if it is something that their child has done or not, if my child did something that was against the law, the last thing I would want is my child wiggling out of it, that would teach them lack of respect for laws and rules. IF they did something really really bad, I would say I would be in the position to push for tougher laws to keep the kids more in line. Kids nowadays are very very scary!!!!
