i have about shoulder length hair and i have a hair appt. coming up. i want a new style, but i dont know what to do with it...color ideas as well?

I too am looking for a new look this summer - I have just below shoulder length hair and am going to have a hair cut similar to my avatar - with a bit more body. If you have a round/semi oval face I think this should suit you.
When you go to the salon give the stylist a rough idea of what you are looking for and ask them to make you look great - if the stylist is any good they'll know what Will suit you.
Also recommend that you have a look at some celebrity hairstyles - they do not necessarily have to be in style - just something that you like.

I am a fan of short clipper cuts myself. You have to confident about who you are. Hairstyle should depend on your lifestyle like are you athletic, all about business, prissy girly girl or more dykish? Since it is summer time I would either do a all over color to lighten it to dark blonde or lighter if brave enough, or go with some highlights, they will look natural and go out easily with little or no upkeep requiered. I would go for astyle that is easy for you and comfortable for you!!! How much change do you want? Major or little?? I would hope to see a short clipper cut with highlights. It all depends on you face shape, but you can never go wrong with a cute long bob. (Like Heidi Klum last year.) It's flattering on almost all face shapes. I would say, if your hairs brown go with some carmel highlights around your face to frame it out. Good Luck and remember, it's only hair so have fun!! :)

get a pink yellow and purple mohawk.. just kidding!
well try a face frame and layers. maybe some highlights but if you try doing that, you'll want to go just one shade lighter than your natural/current color. dont get blonde highlights or something if your hair is dark brown.
