Why are so many of you willing to risk you innocent childhood to have sex? And for those of you who have already done it, was it worth it? Would appreciate honest answers.

I'm a 13 year old girl, and although I haven't had sex yet, I do think about it.
So many young teens (including myself) think about, or want, to have sex because of the way its portrayed by the media. The majority of recent (as in the past few years) movies, video games, music, etc., have had some basis in sex. Usually, its showed as an action that makes two people closer, or brings people happiness. We're told it feels good, and although there is some coverage of sexual diseases, those are often shown in humorous way.
Sex has become a joke, and a lot of young teens don't want to believe that they could get a life threatening disease (such as AIDS.) by doing something that seems so 'fun'.
Its not just the media though, its also peer pressure. Its usually not from your own age group, but perhaps from an older friend. Many girls (and I'm sure some boys, as well) are pressured into sex by an older boyfriend or girlfriend. My boyfriend is older than me, 16. But we've talked about this, and decided to wait until I was older and more sure of my decision. Young teens are told by older friends that it feels good, and that it made them love their boy/girlfriend more. I've been told this by a number of older boys and girls.
Well, thats about the best I can answer this. I know my answers are obvious, but I hope they help a bit.

I had sex too early, for sure. There were a lot of social and media pressures making me feel like everyone else was, so I may as well get it out of the way and stop worrying about it. I have great respect for those who wait for the right time/person, but not all of us were confident enough with ourselves at that age to just be kids. There's a huge amount of encouragement for children to hurry and grow up, and not just sexually. From early childhood, every new stage a child enters is praised and celebrated. Often this ends at puberty, one of the most confusing times, so kids look to media and peers for encouragement. There are a lot of factors, of course, but confidence (or lack thereof) seems to have a lot to do with it.
