I buy pizza dough from a local supermarket near my house, but I always make the traditional sauce, cheese and pepperoni pizza. Does anyone know of any good pizza recipes I could use to mix it up a bit? Perhaps with different sauces or toppings?

Try tomatoes thinly slices, sliced fresh mushrooms, shredded grilled chicken, a small jar of Alfredo sauce, mozzarella and asiago cheese. Fantastic!! I also like green and red pepper;cut into thin strips, black olives; chopped, red onion; sliced thinly, and sliced mushrooms. I use just plain pizza sauce when I make that one.

I made this pizza one day for my kids. I originally was going to make a large calzone for them to share, but then creativity took over and this dish was born. It's simple and delicious. As is with every pizza the best part is that you can top it anyway that you want. That's what makes Pizza so fun after all, isn't it? The recipe submitted is a healthy version.

1 whole-wheat pizza dough (Enough for thin crust 14'' and 12'' pizzas.)
1 cup strained tomatoes, mixed with
salt, and
garlic powder (or simply use pizza sauce)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1/2 red onion
cooking onion
5 slices turkey bacon

Mix the strained tomatoes with the garlic powder and salt to taste to make your pizza sauce.
Chop the vegetables to a pizza-topping state.
Take 2/3 of the pizza dough and roll it out to about 14'' in diameter.
Spread about half the sauce mixture out evenly on the rolled out dough, leaving about 1 1/2 inches from the edge.
Top the dough with the white onions, green pepper and turkey bacon, then cover with cheese.
Roll out the remaining dough until it is about 12'' in diameter.
Place the 12'' dough on top of the first prepared pizza.
Take the remaining sauce and cover the top layer completely.
Carefully fold the edges of the bottom layer over the top, sealing the bottom. (You should have what looks like a thick pizza crust at this point with rolled egdes.).
Cut some slits into the top crust, to allow for steam to escape.
Top the second layer with the remaining red peppers and red onions, then cover with the remaining cheese.
Place on a pizza pan or pizza stone in a 425 degree pre-heated oven and bake for 22 minutes. Sprinkle cornmeal on, or grease, the pizza pan or stone to prevent from sticking.

Southwestern Chicken Strips (cooked already, not breaded)
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Red Onion
Original Bulls-Eye BBQ sauce

Cook your dough a little bit beforehand. Once half cooked put BBQ sauce on top of dough (to your liking), sprinkle mozzarella cheese, put chicken pieces on top and chopped/sliced red onion. Continue cooking in the oven at 400 degrees F until golden brown (about 15-20 minutes). It's delish. I make it all the time.

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

2 skinless, boneless chicken breast
pizza crust
1/2 c Ranch dressing
1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 c. chopped tomatoes
1/4 c. chopped green onions

Preheat oven to 425. Cook chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink and juices run clear. Cool, then either shred or chop into smaller pieces.
Bake crust about 7 minutes or until slightly golden brown in a lightly greased pizza pan. Remove from oven. Spread ranch dressing over partially baked crust. Sprinkle on mozzarella cheese. Place tomato, green onion, and chicken on top of mozzarella cheese, then top with cheddar cheese. Return to the oven for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Try this :

Buy some pita bread ( usually about 10" diam. ) brush some olive oil thinly on top and under, place on baking tray, put a mixture of tomato paste with italian herbs, salt, pepper and garlic on top, then a coating of shredded mozzarella cheese, spread a marinara mix ( prepacked frozen from supermarket, thawed in micro in a wrap of paper towels ) on top of that, add sundried tomato, olives, onion, sliced red and green pepper, anchovy ( drizzle the juice from the can on too ), a little artichoke heart ( if you like it ), and top with just a sprinkle of mozzarella ( to hold it all in place ) and bake for 15 - 20 mins in a very hot oven.

Barbecue sauce pizza works well with peperoni and Italian sausage. Peppers might add to it too.
