Probably because it isn't really Hoodia you bought. Check out these links:

I think most of the Hoodia stuff is a scam. Until it is approved by the FDA (which it probably won't) I wouldn't touch it.

The main ingredient is Hoodia a supposed appetite suppressant. I also have tried similiar products and had very poor results. I threw the rest of mine out after experimenting with different dosages and still getting no results. I think the stuff is very much overated and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

what is it supposed to do?
a fitness diet is eat less, eat better, more water, more exercise
that's it.
