Pilates is a great workout as well as swimming. Bike riding is also a fun way to get in shape

I took a Yoga class for two semesters in college and I loved it. It's very calming and relaxing, as well as a tough workout. If you can get involved in a Yoga class it really helps to tone your body. Pilates is also a good suggestion, because it is also geared towards toning and sculpting your body.
It really just depends on what you're interested in - are you looking to help yourself relax and become more tones, or are you more interested in a face-paced work out like kick boxing or working out at the gym? There are so many different types of work outs, so it's a matter of finding the one that fits you best.
As far as fat burning, I mean, you basically burn calories doing almost anything, so any and all workouts are good at that :)
Good luck!

Look, you want weights too. They burn as much as cardio, and certainly tone much better. Do weights before the cardio, then your muscles will be depleted of glycogen, and all cardio can do is burn muscle or fat cause the carbs are gone already; and do cardio slow but long to increase fat burning and decrease muscle catabolism during cardio.

Pilates is good for tonning, but some of the videos for pilates can be boring. They're good for toning up and it helpts with your muscles increase to help you burn up your fat.
I'm trying Kung Fu and thats been a good cardio/muscle enhancer so far.

Alternate cardio and weight training (one day of each), circuit training, and pilates as others mentioned good too. Water aerobics burns calories as well as strengthens muscles because your working against the waters resistance. Plus, go to one of the more energetic classes and you'll be surrounded by younger women in skimpy clothes - I would skip the geriatric/arthritis ones, unless thats your preference!

Swimming - it works more muscles at once than most exercizes.
