There a thing as "gnostic". Look it up under the history of the church.

Gnostics were one of the groups of people that stood against the creation of the catholic church. The ones I have visited are so steeped in tradition its impossible to identify the teachings of Jesus. Who by the way was not in favor of traditions because such kept people from growing more aware of what is possible with God.
