I believe we misunderstand Godbecause we don't know His nature.
If you know and trust a friend you would know when they were misrepresented. You would know what they would do or not do in a given situation.
If we are to understand God, we need to know His character and His nature.

In order to understand the nature of the Creator, you need to understand the nature of his creation. So, look at physics. We've finally come to realize that the universe, in all it's majesty and diversity, at the core is made up of only one thing. (We call this object the "ultimon"). Everything we see, feel and experience is just different aspects of the same thing.
I believe God is the same. In all His infinite majesty and diversity, at His core God is made up of only one thing: love. Everything we see, everything we experience is just different aspects of His love.
We don't understand everything about creation. We don't exactly know how it all works, or how all the pieces fit together. But, we're getting closer. Same thing with God.

God is an all powerful, all knowing, universe spanning entity that has a deep and personal interest in your sex life. Further, It seems that god is so vain and vindictive that if you do not stroke it's ego by worshiping it in a highly proscribed manner, it tortures you for eternity in everlasting fire. Now that sounds like a highly disturbed creature that is hardly worthy of worship or respect

God understands us because he created us. And he loves us better than anyone on earth can because he knows our hearts and our pains. He also gave up his only begotten son so we could be saved.
