i wonder what we could do as people of the USA to write a proposal to our politicians in Washington D.C who do not have a clue how to get their heads out of under the trouble we are in in Iraq? What solution could be presented to let them act now?

We need to win this war honey.

We actually ARE winning, you just listen to the wrong news channel. We are not "in trouble" and do not need to leave. These things take time.

The Jihadist must be removed from the human population and it will be a long and painful process.

Secure Iraq before doing anything. We cannot leave until the Iraqi government and soldiers/police are ready for us to leave. I cannot figure out why people believe it is a good idea to just leave something we have been fighting for for the past 5 years. Kerry wants a specific timetable for leaving....are you an idiot???? yes. We have saved a nation over there from terror, and we have also saved America from future terror attacks. Sadam was a terrible man who wanted Americans dead...whether thats with his weapons of mass destruction (and yes we have found some so dont listen to the left media saying we haven't) or with his harboring of terrorists. This is not a pointless war and we have accomplished a great deal, and we will continue to accomplish a great deal. So, to answer the question...pull out during sex, not during a war you moron.

Unfortunately only the harshest of actions can bring about stability, and in times of war also very necessary.

1. Recognize Your Enemy: There are many factions fighting for control of specific pockets of Iraq.
-Shiite death squads making revenge attacks on Sunnis who controlled during Saddam's reign.
-Sunnis/Shiite retaliation against each other for religious attacks
-Foreign fighters influenced by Syria and Iran who want to destabilize the region due to a perceived threat from the US.
-Terror groups using Iraq as a front to open a war against Western forces. They gain in publicity and attract new fighters to their fold each passing day. The use of Palestinian problems serve as a lighting rod. The higher echelons could care less what happens in the Gaza and Lebanon.

2. Begin summary executions of theats deemed subversive and traitorous to the government. One of the penalties for betraying the US here is execution but it has not been carried out in a long time. Over there, it is needed because the government is fragile. It needs to enforce a very strong image in its fledgling state. It is trying to be perceived as a normal operating government when in fact it is not and the conditions that surround it make it incapable of operating as "a normal government".

3. Protection of vital infrastructure necessary to the well-being of the people. Water, Electricity, Communications. Establish this and most of the populace will be satisfied.

4. The job of the US is NOT to go into civilian areas and start randomly bombing away when the threat of collateral damage is so great. Surgical precision strikes in these city centers need to be made by on the ground units. Commando units take the lead while a cordon is formed around the target zone by military units. This results in greater exposure but the effect must powerful and fast. You reduce the number of casualties, but you raise the possibility of capturing a greater # of insurgents who can usually shoot and run.

5. Politicians need to make decisions that generate results. On the local Iraqi level. Grand sweeping proposals that take too much time are not necessary. Immediate smaller projects are. The key lies in the simplicity of the request. Can't get water to a town - establish truck routes for water until lines can be built. Impassable roads must be repaired immediately. Areas that are currently not threatened must be built up immmediately to show the rest of the country the real possiblity of the future that they can hold.

6. Proper accounting/tracking/logistics of outside aid along with a 3rd party group to oversee that contractors are doing work specified. As long as money is being thrown at a problem - most of it will be to open hands who have only a vested self interest in themselves and not the overall idea of development.

7. Changing the current US govt. is pointless, pulling out of the country is pointless. Real simple solutions can be found by researching the past.

Many prominent politicians have already called for the government to withdraw troops from Iraq. Unfortunately it seems that none of their suggestions have been considered. The best thing that we can do now as citizens is to keep encouraging our representatives in Congress to call an end to the war. You can find out where to write to your senator or congressman online at either www.house.gov or www.senate.gov

It's more complicated than it appears. And the solution is not in sending or pulling out troops. The problem is deeper and broader than some people think. We need cultural harmony and respect. We should look at the problem from its roots - what causes terrorism? We therfore nee dto act on the socail, political, cultural, and economic aspects. The United States and Americans need to respact and accept diverse cultures and beliefs, and not force the American way everywhere and anywhere thay want.

You can't really. People can write their congressmen and senators to upll out but that won't help all that much. We are there and getting out (if we ever do) is not trivial. Leave too soon and it would be worse.

I didn't support going into Iraq for these exact reasons (and others). But now that we're in, we have to deal with it. You break it- you buy it.

No sweat, sweetheart. Here’s a step by step plan.

Secure the region through force of arms.

Assist a legitimate Iraq government until it can perform security operations on its own.

Withdraw from Iraq.

See how easy that is?

Do you know how many terrorist attacks there would be in the U.S. if we "stopped"?

The terrorists, and people who aid them would think they defeated us, and start attacking here again.

We are not 'under trouble' in Iraq. We are in a war, helping the iraqi people. When they can successfully maintain a military that can defend themselves, then we can leave.

It's too late. This was all part of the US military's strategic plan. The US is forever present from now on in Iraq. They will never leave.

Big assumption that we agree with you. You could not be more wrong. We will end the war as soon as the Iraqi government is able to defend itself & be Democratic like the people elected them to be.
