Homosexuality is an evolutionary unfit behaviour since it does not propagate the species?

We cannot use evolutionary theory nor theology to decide questions of morality.

Just because the species is not propagated does not mean that it does not fulfill an evolutionary purpose...or it could just be a byproduct of the evolutionary experience. Afterall homosexuality does seem to appear in other species besides humanity and there is a lot of speculation as to why that is. So either it serves an evolutionary purpose in all the species that have exhibited homosexual behavior OR it is a byproduct in humanity of the evolutionary process.

As a gay person I really could care less either way. I let the scientist look into it, I am just living my life. My religion doesn't condemn me, my family supports me, wonderful friends, and I have a wonderful beloved to love and share my life with. Pondering the purpose of my inclinations and a mere aspect of the totality of who I am seems pointless. I am who I am and I have accepted that and I am loved for who I am and able to give love. Love is more important because love is from God.

Homosexuality fits in perfectly with nature. The planet is over-populated and polluted. Nature finds a way. Current studies suggest that a first son (this study looked at men, not women) is more likely to be straight, and a younger son gay. This suggests that nature has a limit on reproduction. Maybe being gay is a form of birth control. Usually, a gay person doesn't reproduce. I think that adoption, though, is a wonderful idea for those who do not reproduce, either through homosexuality or through a medical problem. There are too many children on the planet who need parents to love them.

Who says it's an unfit behavior? A bunch of fundamentalists because it doesn't fit into their scheme of things. I hear nature laughing her butt off.....

Other than my analytical 2-cents, by all means have FUN! I refuse to believe that we would be given the body we are born with, if not to enjoy it.

It doesn't propagate the species every time I have sex. In fact, I would go as far as to say that I plan on never propagating the species again. So, all the sex I have from now on, is this evolutionary unfit behavior? Would you suggest a law that only sex that can and will result in pregnancy is allowed? Punishment for the sex that is unsuccessful?

Now hold on one second. If two gay guys gave sperm up to two lesbians, they are propagating the species just fine. Technology has reached the point where you don't gotta screw someone to have a child. And if they wanted to have a child without artificiality, there are plenty of homosexuals who might break away just to get pregnant or get someone pregnant. Ever seen the movie "The Bird Cage"??

Just as a happy addition....congratulations Indianadude, you are a bigot. Just because someone gay who you know is screwed up, doesn't mean all homosexuals are off their rockers. I know plenty who are fine, wonderful, and clean living people. They are my friends. And it is NOT a learned behavior. Bigotry and homophobia, however, is. Thank your parents for being a bigot.

You aren't accurately quoting the science there.

Maybe in this world of overpopulation it serves a very important function to be gay...let's face it there is no shortage of people breeding till they almost literally pop.

Then there are the great gay scientists, philosophers, artists, composers, playwrights, politicians etc etc...are you saying they contribute nothing to the propagation of the species, how can you measure their influence.

Indianadude.. if people didn't get pressured to be straight they wouldn't be forced into heterosexual relationships and start families before they've had time to sort out their real sexuality...that's what you got there... a classic case of someone who wasn't given the opportunity to be himself from the start, it's now a tragedy for him, his ex-wife and the kids and it might have all been avoided if gays were allowed to be themselves in our society. Think about that! Now you have a fully blown tragedy that could have been avoided.

Besides what art, music, culture would the world have if not for gay people. I believe gays are here to enrich life and not be encumbered by the wife and kids, that is for heterosexuals to do. Each has their place in nature, this is the order of things. Now before any religious types come along, and you know they will, remember that homosexuality is not new nor is it outside of the natural order, it may be an anomaly but it is what it is.

Animals don't have any school of moral expertise as you do. besides their widespread instinct is to mate and habit that you call gay is an indiscriminate expression. do you pick to act as a brute beast? It's a learned behavior. My sister husband left because he wanted to be gay. He's was a great guy, husband, father, provider etc. He now is a mess, drunk all the time, lost his job, he's miserable. He lost about 60 lbs, he's been arrested a least 4 times, drunk driving etc. His children have nothing to do with him...he showed up drunk at their house with one of his "friends" wanting a visit..she threw him out. He dresses with lots of jewelry, he's just a very lost soul. They have a web-site showing their so-called happy life..all drunk..they have to drink to get through..it's a filthy dirty life-style..very satanic.
