I want to sing and act. Is there any way to get jobs without an agent. I am still in school so my mom doesn't want to be driving to Hollywood everyday.

Well the best thing to do is concentrate on one aspect first. Do you sing better or are you better at acting?. Take the best out of the 2 and pursue that first. Network like crazy!, the more people you know the better (its sad but true, its not always what you know but who you know). Remember you wont just start at the top, you have to work your way up. Do your homework!, KNOW who you are working with and what they are about because there are some sketchy people out there. Try to schedule when you can meet with different people to get things done and get your name out there. Take advantage of all of the good opportunities, and dont get discouraged if you dont make the cut the first time, keep on trying. And work on getting a drivers license as well so that you wont have to worry about your mom always driving you out to Hollywood. Once you achieve one of the aspects (singing or acting) that you are good at then you can always get the other aspect in your career later on. Good luck!

American Idol is an option and you can go to auditions by your own though it's really hard, perform on the streets of hollywood, if you're talented you'll get noticed and if you're noticed you get a job as an entertainer (sing, act, etc). Get noticed, entertain people and you get a job becase in entertainment business wants people that attrack people and would invert on him/she so that's all you've got to do (without a manager).

You really need to get an agent, but if you don't network like CRAZY!!!! Meet new people try new things. And know that not everything is in Hollywood.

i just started a band a month ago and weve already recorded some songs and gotten gigs. so you dont really need an agent just do what you love and do it often with talented people. my advice is do it your damn self dont let things get in your way
