I doubt Ray Kurzweil made such a prediction. This is the philosophy of transhumanists. Very interesting stuff - bordering on the line of science fiction. People will not lose religion, because they will all die someday due to accident. Nanotechnolgy cannot prevent a person from being blown up. Of course, downloadable persons stuck in a matrix could avoid this fate for much much longer periods of time. But, eventually, death will get them. Why not a matrix heaven? Is this not religion too?

It is unlikely that nano technology will achieve much of anything in the next twenty years, since the ability to make a mocroscopic robotic organism that can both accept and carry out a command is not past the imaginitive stage at this point.
Man has not figured out how the human body does what it does in terms of healing, resisting and recognising diseases, or a myriad other things. We understand even less about our own planet. Further, we have achieved little in the way of extending life, with the minor exception of the fact that we do not labor or live in exposure to the elements as we did, less than 100 years ago. This single fact, is the major factor in our longevity, which only brings us back to an average of 80 years old...which...gosh...the bible states is the years God gave us to live. So, with few exceptions, I find no evidence that we have done much of anything except falsely glorifiy ourselves.

Death will never be eliminated until Christ returns. The wages of sin is death. Everyone has to die. If you are as smart as you think you are, you WILL fear the fire and brimstone, and be born again so you can live for eternity with Christ when he resurrects His people to dwell with Him forever.

Even if death were to be eliminated, religion would still thrive as a band-aid for the inherent pointlessness of existence.

With the help of transcend biology or not, religions are to die out, to be able to have us living in harmony!

Why would anyone want to live forever on this earth? Even if it were possible, wouldn't you think that after 200 or 300 years they would want to call it quits?

Religion as we know it is on borrowed time. Even without technical advances it will slowly decline.
