It varies. If you are healthy and you start the therapies soon one can live for 20, 30, maybe even 50 years. Thanks to new anti-retroviral drugs the virus becomes almost non-existant in one's blood. Almost being the key word there.

Too many variables!!!! What is the life span of someone who doesn't have AIDS? Well, I guess until they die! If the person has access to an HIV specialist and medication, they can expect to live for a while. There are more and more cases of people who have had the disease now for 15, 20 years or more. IF you are talking about people who have progressed to full blown AIDS , IE their CD4 is below 200, or they have some OI's than I do not know. I'm reasonably sure that someone can go from AIDS back to only being HIV+, don't quote me on that! Hows about, if your talking about a personal experience you talk to your loved ones Doctor. If you're just asking in general, that's the best I can offer you! Remember this site does not substitute for a medical professional! See a Doctor if you have questions about your health! Once the virus becomes active, the number of years left depends on the health of the victim. 'Magic' Johnson of basketball fame is (last I heard) about twenty-five or thirty years into it. But he was in good shape, too.
