Here is a breif guideline:

1. Since PowerPoint uses slides as its documents, make yourself familiar with various slide views thru View menu.
2. In order for you to insert text/graphics on a slide in an organized way, you need anchors. There are various formations of these anchors available thru layouts. Try as many as you like and insert images/cliparts in picture placeholders and text inside text anchors. Try formatting text the way you like.
3. Use slide backgrounds or themes for all the elements.
4. Insert as many slide as you like. Give transitions and/or animations for individual elements within slides.
5. Run slide show and (hopefully) enjoy.
