The Seattle area is great. There's a ton to do within driving distance. You don't need any tour busses or packages. There's an awesome bus system, you don't even have to rent a car if you don't want to. It's also safe. The only thing is there are certain streets in Seattle you don't want to go on after 10 pm, especially as a man, the tough guys might want to fight. I'm a short fat little woman so they didn't care about me. It is mostly around Pike Place Market, about a 4 or 5 block radius, but there are other bad areas at night too, where they deal drugs. It's best to just leave Seattle alone at night if you don't have anyone to guide you, or just take a cab to a restaurant or something & take a cab straight back to the hotel. However all other times it is perfectly safe everywhere, and Seattle has many wonderful things to do! I LOVE Seattle!!
I have also been assured that NYC is a very safe place overall, because there is always lots of people around. I haven't been yet, but I plan to visit, and I will be going by myself. I would recommend that, too.

They have holidays for single travellers at numerous locations around the world. There's no pressure to get involved in anything you don't want to do, although there is usually a good crowd to choose your company from. I've been to Turkey with them twice and had a great time.
They also have weekend events in the UK and European breaks, so you can meet a few of the crowd before you make any final decisions. They have LOADS of repeat customers, which says a lot about how the company is run.
Hope you find something to suit you - I've travelled alone for years and always had fun!

I visited Italy last May and I have to say it was the best decision I ever made. There is SO much history there. Do yourself a favor, spluge, and go. Buy travel books on Italy and study Rome, Venice, Pisa, Pompeii and Florence before you go. Visiting the sites afterwards is incredibly rewarding. The people are pleasant and the weather is fantastic. You can go anywhere practically for day trips by train and it's very inexpensive that way. But the MAIN reason to go to Italy is because it's a wonderful place to go when you're single, and not for meeting people because you can do that anywhere, but because it's an experience all it's own for you to enjoy alone and not feel alone.

Man I've been looking for somewhere and something to do for vacation but as a single I find they charge 50% - 100% more for one person than each of 2 people for vacation packages. With the price of gas these days it's hard to take a road trip that doesn't take all your cash. Depending on where you are I know there are many places worthy of the visit it just matters what the cash is.

I'm a 32 year old single woman and I really enjoy Put In Bay Ohio. It's referred to as the Maudi Gras of the Midwest and is great for wineries, dancing, good food and people looking to have a great time. Everyone is very friendly and because Put In Bay is an island, its not overwhelmingly crowded.
