They actually do. It's just that it is concord grapes that are used for candy flavorings etc. The grapes we are used to taste somewhat different than concord grapes. If you try some concords you will recognize the favor from grape candy, jelly, soda, etc. but we don't eat them on their own much because they have seeds and a tough inner seed membrane.

Lemon and lime flavours are strong, the essential flavour of grape is weaker, so it is synthesized, and yes, it doesn't really taste that much like grapes.

Because grapes really have more of a water taste like watermelon....so they had to make up a taste for them.

because grapes are mostly water. And companies cant simulate the unique sweetness of water that comes from a grape. I know what you mean. It sucks. that "grape" flavored candy makes me sick. But I LOVE grapes.
