I always read on this Yahoo!forum the opinion that "homosexualy is not natural, because when the whole world would be gay, then we can't reproduce and the world would and."

of course the whole world won't be gay, but let's work this out a little bit.

hmz, what about Artificial insemination. That would mean no unwanted pregnancies, it would lower the amount of abortions spectacularly. Most religious people hate abortions, so they would be happy.

can we from now on agree that the argument "being gay is wrong because then the world would end" is a kinda silly argument?

(btw, when i post these sort of questions, i always seem to have to mention that i'm straight and that i love my girlfriend. It seems that my questions are read differently when people wrongly assume that i'm gay, which is also strange...)

You'll always get homophobe JuiliaInMiami popping up if you mention gay..is she worried her husband might be gay???

fiddlesticks9, Gay pride parades are just an ongoing part of the civil rights movement ...it used to be blacks in the back of the bus but gays are still fighting for equal treatment under the law...once that is granted the need for gay pride marches will be over.

I thought Just Wonderi...was going to come up with a real reason why it's not right to be gay but no ...just a long-winded piece of rubbish on the tired and totally disproven line that gays are unnatural nonsense... most animals have been observed to have same-sex activity, the parts fit great too so that's exposed both your prejudices as false.

angeltress, normal just means common and looking at you... well I guess the description it fits, but then I'm not sure seeing as you hair is an UNNATURAL shade and you are clearly of above NORMAL weight (sorry but you asked for it) What if one of your kids turns out gay...you never know!

Frankly there is nothing more unnatural than the supernatural, and homophobes who hide behind certain interpretations of religious scripture are the most despicable homophobes of all.

It staggers the imagination that some people have so little to do with their time, and/or lead such dull, uninteresting lives that they have the time & inclination to worry about what others are doing in their own homes (motel rooms, cars, etc.).

I'm not a homosexual, either, but it seems that bigots cannot see shades of gray, they only see issues as all or none.

Homosexuals, like abortion, have been around since humans were invented, and will be around until humans destroy the earth's ability to support life as we know it.

The "religious right" and the GOP can whine and complain, pass laws, and waste as many tax dollars as they want, but they will have no impact on abortion or homosexuality.

Of course that is a ridiculous argument. The world will never be all gay. But there are other arguments to fight homosexuality which are reasonable and contain no religious text. I recently answered a question and gave some of those arguments.

The question was:
"Can any believer give me a reasoned account of why they believe homosexuality is immoral?
No appeals to religious texts, please: just a reasoned argument."

I answered:

"I will answer your question by your rules. No Bible and no religious arguments. Just facts.

It is unnatural. Our bodies are not designed to interact in sexual activity with the same sex. It just doesn't fit.

People think that they are entitled to their own desires, but a belief like that is ludicrous. What if I desire to kill people? It is what I desire, does that make it ok? Or what if I desire to go around and rape women? What if that is the only thing I feel fits for my sexual desires? Does that make it ok? Of course not! You would have to be asinine to believe that desires justify actions. If we let everyone have what they desired, the world would be one big, chaotic hell. It does not matter if someone desires one of the same sex; it is unnatural and immoral.

Look up "unnatural" in the American Heritage Dictionary and this is the definition you find: "1. In violation of a natural law. 2. Inconsistent with an individual pattern or custom. 3. In violation of natural feelings; inhuman." Under synonyms you'll discover words like, "corrupt, depraved, immoral, indecent, perverse, twisted, unwholesome, warped, and morally deviant." All these words have similar meanings (hence synonyms), but they can all be summed up in one key word: immoral.

Now you might say, "Well how is homosexuality unnatural?" Buddy, just look at it. Our bodies were not meant to have sexual activity with those of the same sex. We don't work that way. Sexual activity is meant to create reproduction, and you certainly can't reproduce with one of the same sex.

The last point I will make is the ridiculous STD's that homosexuality creates and spreads. It just makes life harder on all the rest of us.

So, if you have desires for others of the same sex, you might just have to suppress those desires, just like normal people suppress other immoral desires on a day to day basis. You don't always get everything you want."

Maybe this will help.

>>> what about Artificial insemination. That would mean no unwanted pregnancies, it would lower the amount of abortions spectacularly. Most religious people hate abortions, so they would be happy.<<<

A world without abortions would make us happy.

But artificial insemination would not -- because it denies the unitive design of God when He created us male and female and told us to "go forth and multiply."

God made us male and female for a reason, folks. He wants us, one man to one woman, to be united so as to share in His creative work.

Saying that homosexuality is unnatural means that it is not genetic. Thus, the only logical explanation that remains is that it is a behavioral disorder like autism. If this is the case, then instead of being encouraged or celebrated, homosexuality should be treated just like depression or any other psychological disorder. In fact Freud is famous for having succesfully used psychoanalysis to 'cure' homosexuals. But I figure most people already have their minds made up about this issue, so what you or I say really won't have much of an effect.

One could argue that it would do the world/earth good if humans were to vanish. We're almost nothing in the whole of things. Considering that earth is but a sandcorn when compared to the universe, does it really matter ? Live, let live, try to make other people's day a better one and enjoy.

I'm heterosexual, but sometimes I wish I was gay, just so I could be more offensive to the bigots who think like this.

A few thoughts:
Homosexuality (unlike murder) is a victimless "crime". It results in no harm, and real pleasure.
Your prejudiced use of the word "natural" does not match mine at all. Mother Nature's kept her mouth shut on the subject so far; why can't the rest of you?
To the guy who said "Flying in planes is unnatural, but we do it anyway": that's a really good one, and I'm probably going to steal it.

If I may give a completely biological opinion. Fitness is what drives organisms to do what they do. If you are not passing on your genes, then you are not normal, even the smallest most insignificant organisms on the planet pass their genes on. It is all biological, and if homosexuals want to be the last of their gene pool to take a dip so to speak then good for them, no more of those genes in the world. Most gays would fit in nicely with the darwin awards hahaha. I have no problem with Gays myself, I just dont agree with them adopting children and raising them..that is just plain wrong! As long as gays dont try to push that crap on me then Im fine with it, I also hate T.V nowadays because all you see is how cool and fun it is to be a homosexual.....all these shows on TLC and those channels, its all about fashion and hair styles and makeovers..........

I should say this first... I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. I don't believe in replacing one's thoughts with my own.. that is just silly. I'm just supplying other ways of looking at things. Look if you want to.

It is interesting reading a lot of answers to your question about homosexuals. Many people always mention faith with their answer but what about those people who don't believe in their faith? I don't think homosexuals ruin the world. Someone I work with once told me that it was bad because it was in the bible. I responded to him "I don't see what is so wrong about loving someone." He didn't say anything back to me. I think many people have this idea that gay people are nothing but perverse individuals that like to have sex all the time with others of the same sex numerous times. I think many don't believe that homosexuals function like heterosexuals when it comes to choosing partners.

Morals. Where did we get these from? Who wrote definitions and what are morals based off of? I was taught from a professor of mine during college to not swallow everything so easily when given to me. I must look beyond and deep to the source to answers given to me. We as people think we know what is morally acceptable and what our social norms should be. I think humans are still babies learning to walk. We might think we are several steps ahead of the caveman but maybe we are just one footstep into our future.

We base many things on our society. Who says our society is correct? What if I tell you that there exists a homosexual society? A place where homosexuality is as "normal" as heterosexuals? The Etoro tribe is an example of this. The men have sex with other men. They also have sex with women but only to reproduce. You can look them up online. Perhaps some may look at this culture and feel they are wrong and just children themselves learning and are not yet as superior as we are. Who decides who is superior? You?

STD's. Homosexuals don't spread STDs. I feel that Irresponsible people spread STDs.

I don't think gay people will ruin the world. "Being gay is wrong because the world will end." is a very silly statement. It is as if suddenly the whole world will want to become gay. One user answered saying it was a preference and with that I agree.

As for me... I'm also not gay and people tend to think I am as well.

Well, some faiths don't believe in artificial insemination so in there eyes, the world would be sinning even further by using this unnatural form of fertilization.
