Assuming that the story of Noah is true, and that there were a limited number of people (likely from the same descent/ethnicity), animals and plants on the boat:

* How can we account for variety of races (black, white, Chinese, Spanish, Indian, Mongol, etc. etc. etc.) if we all came from the same few people in Noah's immediate family?
* How can we account for the millions and millions of species of animal, reptile, insect and plant life on the earth today, assuming that Noah didn't have access to life in disparate parts of the world and thus would not have been able to save all of the diversity of land-based life that existed on land before the great flood?

You assume too much. The story of noah is a fable, a myth. Nothing more.

The story of Noah is true. Even if you don't believe the biblical account, every single race and culture on earth has a story of a boat, humans and animals that survived a worldwide flood. On to your questions: 1.) If you believe man was created by God from the "dust of the earth", think about it. There are the black sands of Hawaii, we have red clay right here in VA, brown soil, cream-colored soil. All of the colors were right there in Adam's DNA. And one of Noah's sons was browner than the others. (Ham? I THINK that was his name. May have been Put. Memory fails me.) And 2.) The Bible didn't say that Noah took e v e r y s i n g l e animal on the ark. Just 2 of a KIND or 7 of a KIND, etc. He could have brought 2 leopards, 2 lynx, a panther and 2 lions. Alllllll other forms of cats would come from that KIND. Too bad he didn't get rid of the flies and gnats while he had the chance! I don't believe there were any instructions re: insects or plant life, though. The bugs would live on the animals and plants ALWAYS thrive again. Hope this helps. Great question!

From what I have read in the Bible let me try and sum it up:
1. The variety of races can be explained that humans simply adapted and micro-evolved to suit the surrounding environment and thus certain genes became dominant which allowed different skin colour and shapes to emerge but still fully in the realm of the species of homosapien.

2. Whe God created the world it didn't say that it had different islands and continents it was created with one land mass and the rest of the world was water. Read the creation story in Genesis 1. Also if it was one giant continent then it would be easy to get atleast a sample of all species to go on the boat, and no matter how big they got it more than likely that he took the baby or smaller version of a large animal to save on space.

All the evidence is clear, even scientist tell you that there was a great continent that use to exist and it was separated after the so called meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs. It is clear and easy to understand the flood if you know the original facts that we should be working with.

A couple of things that you'll find interesting that I've read about over the past few years goes something like...

1. Scientist are guessing that color pigmentation for people may take less than 1,000 years to get it where it is today.

2. Scientist recognize a bottleneck in gene variations, pointing to one small group of people populating the whole earth. Once again, science is revealing the evidence of the Bible and Noah. Evolution would lean towards a different gene profile.

3. Since there would have been 2 dogs on the Ark, and we see a variety of dogs today, we can say that there's something going on that promotes variations in a species. I think a mistake of science is that they preface their conclusions with assumptions that the laws of physics are uniform, and what they seeing going on today is typical for what's transpired for these ions, erosion, rain, etc. If even one of their assumptions were blown away, their whole set of theories would fall like a house-of-cards.

4. Since the great flood was done to cleanse the earth of the un-righteous by drowning, it's safe to say the ark was meant to save air breathing animals. Seeds can stay in the ground, fish were somehow dealt with by God and preserved.

Once again we have God doing most of the work, with the idea that he also wants believers to participate in his plan. It's not that God needed the ark, it's just one more example of salvation thru faith and obedience.

If you ever read any scientific book.
The story of Noah could be a "simple" rappresentation of the Ice Age or a Big Flood actually happened millions of years ago.
Remember that the Bible has been written to let the "poor" people understand something about God.
They couldn't use the Scientific terminology back then!

More than likely a "Great Flood" that covered the "whole world" was only regional since those who wrote about Noah's Ark weren't aware of the entire world. So, if you think about it regionally and all the animals that actually could exist in a flood - it is plausible. That is, if you are assuming it is true....

Interesting how we seem to blindly believe in the stories of the bible. How many wars would of been avoided if people understood the parables in religion.

You ask interesting questions.

Why is it that there are so many different religions and stories? Who is right and who is wrong? Could it be that we are all one people and God just split us up to see what would happen? Are we just an accident or are we purposful?

I my self think that there is a higher power and I believe that no one is right or wrong. I am of energy and will return to energy. I believe every thing I do is felt throughout the universe like a breeze on your cheek.

Did Noah save the world? Maybe just his section of it.

One cannot explain it. The earliest portions of the Old Testament/Torah/Pentateuch are a collection of oral traditions. This niether diminishes their value nor invalidates the Bible. Hence, we cannot reference the garden of eden, nor Abraham, etc. We can reference (or better cross reference) events involving Joseph and later Moses.

The number of species cannot be accounted for in the story of Noah. However, the moral of the story...listen to God despite what others may say,is as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

If God laid out everything to be easily understood and didn't require you to put forth any faith then there would be no reason to come to earth and be tested. This is just a test on your faith and it appears you have failed I'm sorry to say, as well as many others here. (assuming you believe the flood did not occur)

Many say religion is just hope but i know it is something you can feel if you seek the truth and not just ignore the proof in front of you. Remember your relying on your own human intelligence and I personally rely on a much higher powers intelligence.

That is a very good question. Of course it is likely that Noah did not travel around the globe to get the creatures, so I believe God sent the animals to Noah, at least close to him, so he could bring them to the Ark. It takes Faith to believe in God, but once you take that step of Faith and Trust God, you will have peace and questions such as this one will not complex you so much.

i think that the story its true. just go search the web, there are many version. and for the race and species diversity...i think its all because the geographical conditions that in turn affect the ras and animal species diversity. a bit like darwins theory of survival of the fittest.they evolve to suit their new environment.
