Are you talking about the stain or the scent?
If scent is the problem, lighly dabbing it with a water/vinegar solution, letting it air dry, and then spraying it with a scented disinfectant like Lysol will help.
For stains, it really depends on the fabric. Certain cleaners can damage certain fabrics.

Buy a new couch. Seriously. I had the same problem from when my dogs were pupps. I tried everything you could think of. I still smelled it. Cleaners just seemed to cover the smell briefly, or made it flower scented puke. I just gave up and tossed the couch.I even took the cushion covers off and washed them in the washer seperately from the foam innards. Maybe the smell just lingered in my head but it drove me nuts.

Tell the stupid dog to go eat it back up. They usually do anyway. If that doesn't work, use Woolite stain remover. That stuff is incredible. Then use Febreze for the smell. If none of that works, guess it's time for a new couch.

try using shout or a diluted laundry detergent. check the fabrics colorfastness by trying either solution on a hidden piece of fabric...wait 24 hrs...if its ok, go for it.
scrape excess 'junk' off, with an old sponge with the green scrub side, gently scub it out . continue...
rinse with a wet paper towel. let air dry.

Try Woolite, or something similar that you soak into it, let dry and then vacuum off.
