not to say all islam is but just take the riots that occured last spring ( i think correct me if i'm wrong) over a stupid cartoon that a danish newspaper printed. sure it's bad to do that but you don't have to have mass riots over it and burn an embassy.

Islam does not support violence to begin with so, I 'd say your question is flawed. About the "stupid cartoon", drawings are forms of expression. When this expression is of evident hatred and accuses a mass of over a billion people of being terrorists not only that but insults a man that they look up to and is a crucial figure to their faith. In a time wars are against the followers of this faith. When many already of this faith feel that the outside world hates them for their faith. When foreign governments back the publishers and many other newspapers republish them.

Wouldn't you feel even more hated. Doesn’t freedom of speech come with responsibility? Also, you can't expect people from 3rd world countries to comprehend actions of the 1st world countries when they speak of rights they never got. Just like secular countries don't fully comprehend what faith means to some people. When many of these Muslims are ruled by dictators they are frustrated with. In places where showing your displeasure with the ruler could land you in jail. Suddenly these governments who even governs protests gives them the warrant to protest this cartoon.

Ofcourse people were charged with emotions for these protests. Do you know how many times I was exposed to my faith being insulted before me in my country? ..Never. Even the biggest sinner would dare to insult everything except God, Prophets, and Holy books and would be furious with the insulting them.

The cartoons were the straw that broke the camels back. It was everything from protesting the cartoons to the war in Iraq, occupation in Palestine, ... to protesting their own conditions in their countries. Let alone those trouble makers that tried to escalate the problems for whatever interest they have. Now, the MAJORITY of protests were peaceful but just like 9/11 it took a small amount of this majority to give the whole a bad reputation. Even when these protests were condemned by religious figures, Muslim personalities, and average Muslims. I condemn the violent protests.

Anyways, I don't expect you to understand my rambling but I just wanted to take you out of your box for second.

peace unto you

Their holy book calls for violence against all evil and/or unrighteous people. Many muslims will say theirs is a religion of peace. Well, it is... as long as you're a muslim. If you're not, unfortunately, you are evil and/or unrighteous.

See the inherent problem there?
