Freedom of religion does NOT include freedom from criticism. When your beliefs defy the laws of physics or nature---liking talking snakes--it is simply ludicrous. It is equivalent to adults believing in Santa Claus. So now that Al Queda and later W. Bush have both demonstrated, once again, to the world the dangers of ignorant, primitive, superstitious, anti-intellectual, racist, sexist, ethnocentric nutball religions, DO NOT THINK YOUR BELIEFs DESERVE to be respected. They are a pus-filled cancer on mankind. Since 911 all religions should be subject to the public scorn that they have richly and bloody earned--Buddists excepted.

hallelujah! Oh wait, that's religious. Amen! Doh!
Right on man! Crap. Santa doesn't exist??

Talking serpents, a woman coming out of a man's rib, people turning into salt, the forbidden fruit. And they call other people crazy for not believing.

Wow, you are just as ignorant as the people you describe. The issue we as Christians have is that if you don't like the religion, just ignore it. When you attack our belief system by saying "When your beliefs defy the laws of physics or nature---liking talking snakes--it is simply ludicrous" you aren't just attacking the religion, you are attacking us personally. Take notice that our religious belief is part of our personality, so what you are saying is that we are ludicrous people. That is a personal attack, and that is what we don't like. If you want to attack the religion, attack the religion, but don't start critizing our belief because that is a personal attack, and if you did it to my face, there's a good chance you're next statement will be to the nurse at the hospital of what your insurance company is.

Its in their nature for people to fight to defend what the believe in, whether it be family, democracy, or their religious beliefs.

What you're suggesting is that people should be made to not be offended. Which is true. Offense should not be something a person is subject to, but the sad truth is that its a function of ego.

Also, there are many people with no religion at all who believe only in themselves and their own rights and happiness, you dont need religion to have clouded judgment or selfish ambitions.

Even with no claimed religion one is programmed from birth to worship self.

It seems you're being just as irrational as those you point fingers at.

No, they do no longer confuse freedom of religion with freedom from ridicule. i imagine if extra Christians ought to do not forget that attempting to respond to the likes of you is throwing pearls to swine, that they had supply up bothering with you. and that i imagine in case you've been extremely solid on your idea you does no longer locate the favor to be immature and mock human beings because of what they believe.

On the flipside, respect the beliefs of others, so long as they respect yours. You don't have to respect the beliefs, respect the person having them. Disagree all you like, discuss it, debate it. Just do it while keeping in mind that you are no better than them. Just be civil about it.

Actually I am well aware that I should expect some ridicule for the path I have chosen. You have every right to ridicule and criticize me, just as I have every right to ignore you and not consider you worthy of my time or atteniton. So don't think your criticisisms and ridicule deserve to be respected or adhered to.

Why is Buddhism an exception? Sri Lankan monks have killed very recently and Japanese Zen monks have killed in WWII. Your picture of Buddhism is naive and overly romantic.
