Sanity is a legal term. It means legally responsible. Unless you are currently confined against your will in a mental institution, you are probably not insane. If you are currently in this position, talk to your psychiatrists about it.

You may be upset, disturbed, depressed, confused, or, just plain unhappy. These are rather normal conditions in human existence, and do not indicate insanity. Life is difficult and uncertain, for everyone.

If you're indeed serious, a couple of questions come to mind. If this is a doctor's diagnosis, how is it your sitting somewhere able to ask for advice on this, or any other, web site? If you are truly insane, as determined by a psychiatrist, he would have immediately made arrangements and had you committed to a mental institution. If this is a self diagnosis, why haven't you gotten yourself to an emergency room for evaluation? Either way, you would have been given medication to help clear your mind and make you more comfortable.

If this is a personality or mood disorder, there are some very effective medicines available that a doctor can prescribe to relieve your symptoms so that you can lead a reasonably normal life. The emparitve here is that you get yourself to a psychiatrist as soon a possible.

As to your question, your chances, the odds, of your going back to sane can only be calculated by a physition. The good news is that it's possibe, not certain, for people to regain their sanity. It depends on how they respond to medications and treatment. But, the fact is that nothing happens until, and unless, you see a doctor.

You are not insane and never was. You are just suffering from emtional stress. Once you overcome this you will feel sane as ever. Your emotional stress is coming from discouragement that happend to you last week. Don't worry about it....it too shall pass.
The people or person involved did not mean to hurt your feelings. They also are going through a bad time.

The first rule of being insane is that you don't wonder if you are sane or not when you are insane.

On that note, sane means to be completely mentally balanced, and in my opinion no one is completely mentally balanced all the time, so I think everyone has a little insane hidden in them! :P

Sane is just the point of view the majority of the world has.
Insanity is the rest of us.

Some of the most inteligent people in the world were insane...

On what basis did you reach this judgment? Did a psychiatrist tell you that?! But any way, if you were diagnosed as having a mental illness as psychosis for example, I would like to reassure you. Modern medications have very good efficacy. They can treat most patients and, most of them can lead a more or less normal life, depending on the condition of their illness.

You never go back because it is not linear. Sanity to insanity is a circle that when you are totally insane you reach total sanity. And then it starts all over again. Good Luck Nutbag!
