I'm taking my husband out for his birthday. Would you choose Dos Caminos on Park Av. So. or Rosa Mexicano on Union Square?

Let me first state that I have not yet been to either location. However, I have read reviews of both on Chowhound, Zagat, and Citysearch. I also have friends/acquaintances who have been to both. The unanimous concensus is that Dos Caminos is better.

I've never been to the Rosa Mexicano in Union Square, but I've been to the one in Lincoln Center. Mexican food wise, I much prefer Rosa Mexicano. The Dos Caminos on Park Ave South I find to be really noisy and overpriced.

My choice would be Dos Caminos because the interior is warmer and softer. I believe the place would give a more classic feel then Rosa Maxicano..They serve excellent guacamole. a wonderful cheese fondue, yummy ceviche and a spiced Chilean seabass. I guess other than that....there are always extra place close by...for a pre dinner drink ( Sugarcane right across the street), a cup of coffee or extra after dinner drink...at the W hotel.
