The scientists say it will pass very close according to the current trajectory. I believe it will cause havoc and a total disruption of life as we know it. what doomsday philosophy supports this?

I've heard of it. Many folks believe its trajectory will change, causing it to strike the Earth. It is also believed this could be the infamous "Wormwood" from Revelation 8:10-11:

"10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter."

I don't plan to be on the Earth at that time, so I guess I'll never see it.

Philosophy has nothing to do with the physics behind the trajectory of objects in space. Your question has no relevance. Also, any object that is still 6 years away cannot be tracked with sufficient accuracy to make such a prediction. Without my going out to verify the projected dates of NEO's (near Earth objects), I can tell you that no reputable astronomers have put out any such doomsday predictions. You have been reading, and/or listening to second and third hand garbage, not any more valid than backyard fence gossip, and much less trustworthy.

Problem is, someone else will read your posting and pass it on to some other gullible adolescent.

The Earth has not had an extremely large impact for some time and is far overdue - but what can you accomplish by worrying?
Do not panic, live your life, be happy...

If it seriously bothers you, look into ways you can help, either by labor or donations towards efforts to stop/prevent/recover from such a large impact on our little planet.

A giant asteroid hurtled past this planet last week. No one batted an eyelid, except for those of us who are interested in such things.

I expect that if we get whacked, it'll be from something coming at us from our 'blind spots'- places that are not scanned for Near Earth Objects.

Too bad the funding to cover those blind spots was sucked up by the Endless "War". . .

Actually it was said last week on the news that one huge asteroid just missed us by millions of miles. It came closer to the moon . Meaning that it may be sooner than we think.

Maybe its the New Jerusalem. When Jesus returns there will be an earthquake so massive that every mountain will be moved, so that could be it.
