The ban is for anywhere that people congregate, and has a roof. So outside in the pub garden is OK, as long as there isn't a roof!

We had all this debate in Ireland before our smoking ban came in. The world does not end, pubs actually become nicer places to be and many have seen their profits go up.

Pubs with pub gardens do particularly well.

The legislation in Scotland encompasses "any public enclosed space" so it applies not only to pubs and restaurants, but to Public Toilets and enclose Bus Shelters too for example.
The ban is working well, it is being respected and has made most public environments far pleasanter places to be.
The cigarette ends accumulating outside pub doors however aren't so nice if the staff, who used to be emptying ashtrays don't go and clear them up.

you can smoke in the garden

why all this bother i don't know
is all it is going to do is loose the pubs trade
the landlords Will stop making a living
he Will have to reduce his staff
hence more unemployment

what happened to free will

we are being told what to do
i guess big brother is here to stay
