Try to see things from other's view point. Not just in this case but all the time. This will help you put together the best approach to solve the problem.

Maybe your Dad feels he has just spent 8 hours at work for the benefit of his family. He is being a slave at work to provide for your needs. So his family should do things for him when he gets home.

****Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's right to treat people like slaves. I 'm just trying to give you a possible reason he acts that way.***

Maybe it would make a difference if you shared with your Dad what you did while he was at work. Let him know you appreciate all he does for you. Try asking him if you can do anything for him. Afterwords let him know what you are going to do. Maybe he will understand you have things to do too. You did show him you care about him too.

He's not going to change overnight. It will take time. Good luck.

sad news: there's nothing you can do to change your parents.
he may feel unappreciated, maybe that's just the way he is.
you should try to talk to him. and if that doesn't work focus on YOUR life: finish school, get a degree. rebelling will only make things go downhill, yes, even more...
and keep in mind this expereince so that you can make sure you DO NOT become like your father.

Like the other girl said, "Not all fathers are like this". Why is your mom putting up with this? Does he abuse you? If not, you should be greatful. If you could just learn to take all of this "slavery" as you call, you could grow up to be a very responsilbe person. I think you should try and talk to your mom and see what she thinks.

is the way he was raised , his dad (your grant pa ) mite of been the same way so he don't know better . back in the day man worked and and the woman stayed home and attend to him and most of the kids that grow up in those families grow up knowing that, that was the way it should be.My mom grow up with a dad like that but that only made her a better person and didn't let any man disrespect her .
