For me, Heaven would be Hell if I knew there were even one lost soul. How could I be more loving than God? Doesn't that prove that universal salvation must be true?

Yes and what if that lost soul were someone very near and dear to you? Then your heavenly experience would definitely be tarnished. Perhaps the lost soul could be cloned to make your eternal stay more blissful...stem cell research is probably permitted up there. :)
All kidding aside, you have proven one of 2 things: either "universal salvation must be true" or heaven, at least as a place of uncompromised peace and happiness, does not exist.

And what about someone who gets to Heaven but finds out someone they loved dearly ended up in Hell? How could they be happy?

I think people take the terms Heaven/Hell too literally. If you apply to reincarnation where Heaven would = moving on to next level and Hell = returning to earth to live another life and learn the lessons one needs to learn it makes more sense. Eventually everyone moves on.

Diamond Doll, would you punish your child for all of eternity for a mistake they made? I hardly think so.

That's an interesting way to think about it, but I don't think it "proves" anything. You can't prove anything about God. That's why many folks don't believe in God. Believing in him requires a leap of faith, a choice to ignore all the many reasons to think he's imaginary.

I don't think it's possible to know about heaven and hell. So why worry? Just be good to everyone and search for God. That's what I'm doing. I figure if he cares, he'll find a way to reach me. Until then, I'm not going to pretend like I know any of the big answers.

You're a good person. And we skeptics like having you around.
However, on this very forum I've read hundreds of "Christian" responses that seem to not only take that in stride, they seem to be happy it will happen! Some of these folks expect to do some heavy gloating!

I hope your wonderful sentiments catch on.

No. God gave us rules, we break them. He gave us a plan for salvation, we turn from it. He gave us a punishment for that, and we take it, from our own choice.

No diffrent than anyother parent-child relationship. Kids have rules, they break them, they are punished, they know the consequences, they act out anyway. A parent can love their child more than life, but will still punish that child.

Great question. I agree with you. How could you be happy knowing someone you love is in hell.
