Well? Why do people hate the Catholic Church so much? also, why do they make up false info about Catholics?

To the people who say "Look into history", I support almost everything the Church did in the past (Except Jew Killing during the Plague and the executions of Jews in the Crusades).

False Info: We Worship the Virigin? We dont worship her like God, but we like the Virgin as a saint.

And yes, we are THE Church, we were here first, and we are the most numerous.

This too dear sister is something I do not understand, they quote things from the past that we have no first hand knowledge of and much of the knowledge is warped and twisted. They aren't even aware of when or why their particular branch broke away from the tree that is the Church. I have even heard some people think we have an entirely different Bible, strange when you consider that it is theirs that is incomplete. The best I can come up with as yet is that it frightens them and I am guess Satan is happy as he has managed to confuse a lot of people. I believe that the fact that we Catholics are being so persecuted is because we are hated as Christ was hated. I wish truly that all of us Christians could learn what we have in common is more important than divisions.
Peace of Christ,
Debra

People hate the Church because no church is perfect. On one hand, you have people in the church saying we should do this or refrain from doing that, but when someone in the church is found to be breaking God's law it makes all Christians look like hypocrites.

Why do people hate the Catholic Church so much? Hmmm...wonder if it has anything to do with all those priests that were entered into the Divine Witness Protection Program (Hey, it's the here's-the-priest-find-the-pedophile shell game). THAT was a huge black mark on the record of the Catholic Church.

Some other possible reasons:

1. In the early 15th century, the Catholic Church started the practice of selling "indulgences" -- basically, a Catholic who wished to commit a sin could pay this indulgence and would therefore be forgiven by the priest before he even committed the sin. How the heck can the church say that someone who commits a sin with malice of forethought will be forgiven?!?!! This practice was carried on for decades until Martin Luther publicly decried the practice and it was eventually eliminated.

2. The Catholic Church was a driving force behind the Spanish Inquisition, where millions of people either converted to Catholicism upon pain of torture and death or were killed for their refusal to do so. That's not what Jesus meant when he said "Suffer the little children to come unto me."

3. The Catholic Church, by its structure and its practice, has offices, rules, and traditions that are not in the Bible or are not commanded in the Bible, such as:

-- A Pope
-- Cardinals
-- Nuns
-- Infant baptism
-- Prayer to the Virgin Mary
-- Confession to a priest
-- Penance for said confession to a priest
-- Priests who are not allowed to marry
-- Catechism
-- The Rosary

And do we need to mention all the members of La Familia (the Mafia) who have sought refuge in The Vatican, and had that refuge granted for the right price?

In the modern church? Because they are hypocritical and judgmental. All the things that they preach against! So quick to point the finger and jump to conclusions. They twist the truth to suit their needs and what ever is most profitable to them. Ruled by dictators and wolves in sheeps clothing. In the church of the past? Where do I start - The supression of any gospel that didn't fit their religion, therefore losing the truth to the ages; the crusades (they didn't just murder the Jews); the Spanish Inquisition and it's methods of torture; the Witch hunts across the world murdering millions of innocent women; burning people at the stake because they don't believe the same things (what happened to freely chosing God?) - shall I continue?

Don't even get me started on pedophiles in the church!!

Believe whatever you like, the catholic church has the power to control - and I am sure they have you suckered.

You can't change history, no matter how much you might like to.
The Catholic Church has done some horrible things. There is no escaping that fact. That is not "false info", that is history. As a Christian, I'm sort of getting a bit tired hearing about the bloody history of Christianity, especially when most of that bloody history can be laid directly at the door of the Catholic church.
Having said that, I don't think it is right to attack anyone else's faith. I'm very secure in my own faith in Jesus Christ.

I think it goes back to their reputation in the past. The medieval Catholic church was the home of the Inquisition, the Crusades, and so many other wonderful projects. The Muslims still are very concerned when we refer to a "crusade" against something, after the way we treated them. The early church was notorious for the things it did to non-believers.

I don't hate the Catholic church but I don't agree with it. Most people proably hate it because it differs from their beliefs. Just like some Catholics hate other religions because it's different then theirs. And the Catholic church has made up false information about things too. It's a two way street.

What falso info are you talking about? I have yet to hear a false rumor on the Catholic church. I, for one, don't hate the Catholic church. I disagree with a lot of it's ways and policies, but that's my cup of tea. There's a lot I don't understand about the Catholic church, but I'm not Catholic, so I don't care and I'm not trying to understand. I don't have a problem with what you believe in if you are a Catholic. My biggest problem, is how a lot of Catholics condemn others for the things they do, but defend their child-molesting priests, that's my main issue.

People do not like to be told they're wrong when it comes to their personal behavior. The Catholic Church holds itself out as a standard bearer on morality. People hate what they perceive to be arrogant churchmen telling them what to do. Also, attending church and being a good christian takes a lot of work and sacrafice. People don't won't to put in the work, especially if they do not believe in eternal salvation.

personally, i am a christian and i don't hate catholic church i just think there are better ways than "sit, kneel, stand" and saying things that some people don't even know what they mean. i like the contemporary style... it benefits me much better. also, i know many people that are catholic and just go because that's what they've always done and most of the catholics i know aren't that close to God. if you are a catholic and you are very close to God, that's great... but i prefer contemporary stuff that i actually understand.

Because it's not THE church like it claims to be. It's just A church like any other. If Catholics would stop pretending to have a monopoly on God, they would make more friends.
Oh, and answer B: because of all the hypocrisy
