... suddenly all Christians disappeared? This is a serious question; no flippant answers, please. THINK ABOUT IT. I'm not asking you to BELIEVE the Rapture will happen. Could you honestly say that this would cause you to re-evaluate your disbelief in Christianity? Why or why not?

Good question.

The world would be less crowded, seriously. But also, we'd have less hate and conflict with political issues.

Abortion would be pro-choice. Death penalty would be allowed all over the US. Church and State would finally be completely separate and no one would have a problem with that. We wouldn't have to worry about people being uncomfortable during prayer over football games or in schools- it just wouldn't happen.

But aside from those positive aspects, we'd also lose a rich culture and a strong commonality among a large percent of the world's current population. If you're a Christian, it doesn't matter what congregation you are per say- you're the same, you believe in Jesus as the savior. The Christians believe that's part of history. And if it is, we'd lose that history as well.

I don't think I would really do anything. It would save a lot of arugments in the future, though. It depends if the religion disappeared, or the people who believe it would disappear. IF just the Christians disappeared, I think more people would start to resort to Christianity, religion wise. It could be based upon guilt, insecurity, or maybe a close relative or friend was a Christian and wanted to make up for them by practising Christianity. Or maybe in the future, scientists would be able to prove or disprove religion, therefore effect many people in the world from their choices of resorting to it. IF Christianity disappeared along with Christians, then that would be history. Might cause a few guilt trips here and there, but we can't believe in something that's not really there. Good question.

I have to admit it would make me wonder. But I'd be more preoccupied with confirming that there were pagans who knew how to keep the power grid online, so that my food wouldn't spoil.

But since not all Christians believe in the Rapture, and since those that do mostly seem to think that they're going to heaven while certain other Christians aren't, I don't see how such an event is likely to occur. Any Rapture that takes _all_ Christians would only lead to a Heaven filled with strife.

I believe in it myself, but I can say that if I didn't, I would SERIOUSLY be afraid for my soul knowing that I'd have to go through the most terrifying time in man's history because I was too busy "evaluating" a belief or non-belief in Christianity. The "disappearance" you speak of is what marks the Rapture of the Church. We are warned of it's imminence, but not of it's time. We are given signs pointing to it's time, but nothing more. This is what makes faith and spiritual preparation so important!

What would be the difference, it would be too late by then to evaluate my disbelief, wouldn't it?

Be honest, what you're really asking here is just another variation of the standard question you people always ask: "Aren't you going to be sorry when I'm in heaven and you're burning in hell?"

I don't believe in your idiotic 'rapture' but is sure would be nice to someday wake up to find you had all disappeared.

Good question. I've actaully had a discussion like this before at school (with friends). I don't think that the idea of the Rapture would even cross my mind. I'd be so confused as to what happened to the people. I'd probably think the goverment or something did it but I'd still have most of my friends so let the sin begin.

I'm a Christian but if that would happen, then that would be it. God wouldn't allow anyone else to go to Heaven after that. Before the "Rapture" the mark of the beast comes to whoever doen't not believe and there is no turning back from that point.

That would mean you would have to believe a very literal meaning of the bible, do you think God would put out the secret to heaven for everyone with a drop of faith to read so clearly. I believe the rapture is a metaphor, it happens within all of us. And only those with true faith, who practice it in their daily lives will meet God in heaven. Think about it. Just because you label yourself a Christian doesn't mean you truly are one. Alot of cars with those fish symbols on the back of their car are the meanest drivers out there, that makes me think, maybe it's just a symbol for looks.

If all Christians disappeared then I would think "what the heck!?"
Also, I would think about how many fewer animals will now be murdered for meat and leather goods. I would also think of how fewer natural resource will be used and wondering how we are going to find homes for all the vanished peoples animals!

This is soooo far off the deep end that I cannot even hypothesize on what effect it would have on my beliefs..... but let me ask you this...if all of a sudden only Christian fundamentalists were left on earth... could you honestly say it might make you think that somewhere during the translation of that book of yours, something must have gone seriously wrong?
