In the movie "When Harry Met Sally", Harry tells Sally that No Men would ever be friends with a woman without wanting to sleep with her which Sally finds ridiculous.

Is that how men think today? Can you be friends with a woman without wanting to have sex with her?

I believe it is possible to have friends of the opposite sex, but it is difficult. Those endorphines are always at work. I have had more male friends than females, and it has been both of us deciding and knowing that our friendship was more important than messingi t up with sex. It can be done - but it takes some work - that is - unless there is no real physical attraction./

HERE IS THE TRUTH...

Sally was right. There is always sexual tension between a man and a woman that are friends. The closer the friendship the more the tension.

The real question is if the guy will make a move or take a cold shower. That is not to say that a guy and a girl cannot be friends...just know what is hiding in the back of his mind.

I think men are definatly more proned to have sexual feelings towards a female friend than women would be, this is from my own experiences.I have had many men friends but most ended cause they wanted more. There have only been maybe 2 friendships where it has not come up, although I have heard from friends that they have mentioned wondering what I would be like in bed...hmmmm

Yes men and women can be friends without having sex. My best friend is a man. We have only been friends for about 4 years but we have never looked at each other that way. No he is not gay but he hangs out with me all the time. I love this man and he loves me but we are not sexually attracted to each other.

I have 3 female friends that I do not ever want to have sex with. Not because they aren't attractive but because they are just friends. No men do not think like that and yes men can be friends with women without wanting sex.

Yes, men can definitely be around women w/o feeling any attraction. As long as you trust your man, you should have nothing to worry about. Insecurity ruins a lot of relationships b/c people constantly make themselves think that someone else is better in some way. If you are insecure, just start mentally telling yourself not to worry about it. You will be fine. Oh, and praying help tremendously too.

Good luck w/ everything, I hope all works out well for you and your man

As insane as this may sound I think that just about the only real way for men and women to be just friends and remain so is for them not to want to have sex with eachother ever. If attraction or lust are there then you just know one or both are going to bring something into the relationship that isn't "friendly". She tells her male "friend" about her boyfriend and he gets upset for wanting to be that boyfriend. She sees him with his girlfriend and she gets jealous. If they are not attracted to eachother friendship becomes easier though maybe less desired or sought after.

The only other way that I am pretty sure of for men and women to be just friends is if both are suitably engaged with their individual love lifes that there is no need or impulse to direct those feelings at eachother.

Taking this as fact (not that it is) women that want to be friends first kind of set themselves up for problems don't they? Wouldn't they have to be friends first with someone they aren't attracted to and wasn't attracted to them. Then they would have to let the attraction grow from there for them to be able to say they fell in love with a friend? Is that a statement about relationships then? That people generally skip so fast past friend to lover that their marriages are difficult to keep stable. That suggests that childhood friends that fall in love and marry as they get older should generally have more stable marriages. This could explain divorce rates in some ways considering it isn't until recently that people moved around as much as they do historically and people have less time to get to know eachother before they are dating.

You have to understand how men think. We want to sleep with every woman. It's not that we would sleep with every woman but the desire is always there. Men think about sex (on average) about once every six seconds. Now this doesn't mean you can't be friends with a guy without sleeping with him, but you should realize that if you are even remotely attractive he probably at least thinks about it.

Of course but it's gonna cross their minds eventually. It's not the only thing men want out of a girl, but men will think about it at some point...even if they don't intend on doing it. It's nothing to be freaked about trust me.
