Yup. The angel of death came for me one night. Scary stuff. Dug his nails in me and I couldn't get up. I forgot to wear my garments that night. Now, I never go to bed without them, it hasn't happened to me again.

That would happen to me too. I have a more logical answer though. It usually happens at that point between being asleep and awake. Your eyes maybe open and you are semi-conscious, but you are still dreaming.

Normal people have a "shut off mechanism" in their brain that disables motor functions while we sleep. It prevents us from acting out what happens in our dreams. Abnormal people without this tend to sleepwalk, and in the most extreme forms, a woman actually killed her husband while asleep.

That point at which you feel you can't move and feel panicked by it is when you start dreaming that an "evil spirit" is sitting on your chest. It is also when this "shut off mechanism" is at play. It's nothing more sinister than that.

It used to happen to me occasionally when I was very young. I think it's part of what they call "night terrors." It is a state of sleep that is different than "nightmares", and is characterized by immobility. I remember at age 4 trying to move or scream to my parents, but could not move or cry out, as a mallet (like in an order-in-the- court room mallet came out of the wall and hit me on the head.) Probably it was some cartoon causing it. I did not sleep on my back when I was older and still don't.

Here is a brief explanation:
"Sleep Paralysis

The characteristics of sleep paralysis are as follows:

Inability to move or speak for 30 seconds - 3 minutes
Speech is difficult or almost impossible
Happens before falling asleep or just after waking up
Can be hereditary
Can be brought on by stress

Sleep paralysis is the experience of waking up (usually form a dream) and feeling paralyzed, except for being able to breathe and move the eyes. Hypnogogic hallucinations and sleep paralysis may occur together. These conditions are common in people with narcolepsy but can also effect others, particularly people who are sleep-deprived. Although a pretty terrifying event, these events are not physically harmful. There are two major types of sleep paralysis: common (typical) also known as CSP and hallucinatory (hypnagogic) sleep paralysis known as HSP.

Differences between CSP and HSP.

CSP is common and universal, HSP is rare and seems to be geographically episodic.
CSP is only unnerving for the sleeper but HSP is accompanied by a nightmare like hallucination.
CSP is of relatively short duration where HSP can last as long as seven or eight minutes.
One of the most important differences between Night Terrors and CSP is that CSPs occurs in Stage one of sleep and Night Terrors occur in stage four.

Different cultures throughout time have interpreted HSPs as different spirits or events.

Ancestral ghosts - Southeast Asians
Hag - Irish and Scottish
Cats - Chinese
Spectral foxes - Japanese
Djinn - Arabs
Guilt - Romans and the Egyptians
Witchcraft - Mexicans
Vampires - Europeans
Demons - Medieval Europe
HSPs are usually a vision of a small creature that sits on the victims chest. The creature then either compresses the chest or attempts to strangulate the victim. Almost all attacks have been reported by people sleeping on their backs.

I had this happen to me aswell. I remember it happening when i was like young about 12 years old. It happened when I was inbetween sleep. I would wake up, but then still be in bed trying to sleep again (because i woke up too early) and then it would happen. I felt like there was something holding me down, and I couldn't move. It was scary at the time. It does not happen anymore, thank goodness.

Unfortunately this has happen to me alot. It's simple, there are fallen angels who know there fate, so they do whatever whenever they want. They are many different angels with many different powers that seem to enjoy donig things to people. I personally have had many, many experiences with these sprit forces and don't enjoy it one bit. One thing I know that helps is using the name Jehovah. These fallen ones absolutly detest this name and leave you alone right away. It's like using a sword against them. So stay away from things that will draw them to you and Dont' take a instrest in them or your life will be a living hell (Literally). They are mean!!! Take care..

what you experianced may have been "kanashibari" or sleep paralysis. it means you may have been dreaming while you were half way awake therefore you saw or felt things but were unable to move.
