Buy the one that has the least miles, is in the best condition, and is the best deal.
Remember its an old vehicle so you'll be buying it 'as is'
Check them both out COMPLETELY before deciding

They are the same thing.
Depending on options on each of them, but the primary difference is on the front grille. The Chevy grille is enclosed with a silver bar and gold bowtie and the GMC grille is an open grille with the red letters "GMC" in the middle.

Chevy and GMC are cranked out of the same factory.
Every other ten vehicles pulled out of the factory are GMC's, the rest are Chevy's.

Examples:
A Chevy Silverado is a GMC Sierra
A Chevy Colorado is a GMC Canyon
A Chevy Astro is a GMC Safari
A Chevy S-10 is a GMC Sonoma
A Chevy Blazer is a GMC Jimmy
A Chevy Trailblazer is a GMC Envoy
A Chevy Tahoe is a GMC Yukon

Just remember that the only difference is the front grille and any other insignias that they slap on the back or sometimes on the sides.
I own a 2005 Chevy Colorado, except for the front grille, and the fact that it says "Colorado" down the sides, it's the same exact body style as the GMC Canyon.

What is your criteria for choosing one of the two vehicles? Color? Amenities? Options? Looks? Today you may like the GMC, while tomorrow you may like the Chevy. I own both a Chevy and a GMC, they both serve well for their intended purpose.
