Can anyone give me a link with pics on how to use yoga straps to help with holding poses & improving flexibility? Ive searched online and can not find any pics on different uses.

Also, tips with blocks would be helpful. Im somewhat new to Yoga. I have been following a Yoga Zone video for beginners (abs) for a couple of years, and have recently decided I really want to further my yoga poses.

Yep, already visited Yogajournal.com. Like you said...no pictures. I need a visual. Youd think someone would have a site showing pics of using them. I just ordered 100.00 worth of new yoga dvds to add to my collection. Havent recieved them yet so not sure if maybe they'll show something in them or not. Their by Yoga Zone. But didnt want to have to go buy yet another video or book just to learn how to use a strap and a block..lol. Looks like that is what I will need to do though to thouroughly understand. Thank you for your comment and suggested material.

I haven't seen a lot of websites that offer good instruction on using props. Probably yogajournal.com is the best, but they don't give you any pictures of how to use the props-- just some limited description. Try your library-- I'm sure you can find books and dvds/tapes there. Patricia Walden's beginners video offers clear instruction and demonstration on how to use different props. Judith Lasater Hanson's book Thirty Essential Yoga Poses also offers clear instruction and pictures of how to use props.

Namaste!

The use of props such as straps and blocks were pioneered by BKS Iyengar, who founded Iyengar yoga.

The best book on using straps, as well as other props would be BKS Iyengar Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health.
