OOOOO, this is an awsome question.
Well, eventually you may just have to embarrass yourself to do it.
If it's worth it, eventually you will.
Ok. being a guy I should know.
Always smile at him.
look at him constantly, if he catches your gaze hold it for like 2 seconds enough for him to see then let it down.
Look for his gaze accross the room.
bump into him. Ask him simply if you can eat lunch with him, try to avoid the opposite sometimes because he may have his crew or best friend to sit by or already told someone he would. So it's safer to ask if you can.
Part of natural body language is that when someone is interested then they sometimes automatically adjust their hair or look in the makup mirror when theyre not looking. Give him little complements. Give him somtimes flirt complements, not sexual nature. Tell him that he looks great, or handsome- don't lie though lol. Ask him if he would like your email or IM, or ask him if he has one if so can you have it. Or sometime- be honest, if your nervous mildly half mumble but not too much that he makes you nervous. Talk to him. BUT know that it takes time to build a relationship. don't give up on the first day and don't commit yourself to anything in one day either. Get to know him for who he is. The best steps to becoming a real relationship is having a strong friendship first.

Find out what he is interested in, and learn a little about it. It's a safe easy way to start a conversation that will go somewhere.
However, I would suggest a much more direct approach if you have the stomach for it. Next time you see him, tell him you'd like to hangout. Pick a neutral setting with a lot of outs if things don't go well. Also, keep it one on one. You don't want to send mixed "friend" signals. Guys are real bad at picking up on stuff, so you have to be pretty obvious with us. If you aren't being obvious, he may not even realize you are flirting right now.
Remember this, most people are usually flattered that you like them. I wouldn't be embarrassed about being open about your feelings. The worst that can happen is he won't return them. In that case, have a good cry and move on. The embarrassment is much better than the anxiety of wondering "what if."

You're on the right track, just don't over do it. Guy don't want a woman to be to overbearing. Little hint here and there to let him know that you are interested. Maybe suggest lunch or coffee to get to know each other then let him make the next move. If he is interested he will ask you out.

Well I think flirting in a subtle way is not embarrassing. I mean if a guy has his eye on you, then you will know. If you know he likes you too, then you can come out a little bit more

talk to him then write hime a note i know for the sole fact 3 girls have done it and i went with both of them 2 off the relationship lasted a long time ! when i got the notes i would have never guessed they liked me
it is the best way to tell him

if u really want to tell him then just be confident look him in the eye and say "hey i like u" and if he just laughs at u dont make a big deal just walk away be chill and confident! that will make u not embarrassed to others (i havent really tried this tho)

well you find out how he feels about you. then if he says he likes you the same way then you let him know how you feel.if he doesnt then i would tell him anyways.
