No. Meditation as a regular practice gives you control over where your mind goes. You could use meditation to trip if that's what you want, but that's not the point of it. LSD, on the other hand, will alter your experience of your consciousness, but not always in a predictable way. If you have a strong mind, you could guide an LSD experience, but if you don't have a strong mind, LSD will make you temporarily insane. I don't think that's too strong of a description. I've done both. I don't recommend drugs to anyone. If you are going to experiment with LSD without my approval, you will have a better experience if you practice meditation for a few weeks prior to your experiment and not just any meditation: you should be able to control your mind and tell your mind what you want to focus on. Other than that, anyone can close their eyes for an hour and see pretty flashing lights and geometric patterns without drugs. Be safe.

I'm with dslant6, lsd may give the illusion of getting closer to the goal of meditation, but in fact only the hard work and discipline of meditation can truly work.

I've never tried LSD, but meditation can take you anywhere.
For instance: Astral Travel

No, it doesn't. LSD deteriorates your brain. Meditation doesn't do that.
