I was diagnosed nine years ago with bi-polar and still tried to live a normal life including staying employed...It got worse for me to stay employed for a few reasons and no longer working. I was denied disability the first time and was too mentally frustrated to appeal within the required time... I have now re-applied again and my paper work is in processing. I just would like any feed back from anyone that has been in a simular situation as me.

I suffer from BP II. I understand that sometimes its almost impossible to work, especially if you have an employer that doesn't understand. But personally getting out and working was the best thing that I could do. It has helped me remain stable along with reg doc visits and meds. I hope u get everything to work 4 u!!!!!

I'm not having the insurance problems you're having, for that, I'm sorry you're having to put up with the crap. if you're not on meds ....get on them .... stay on them...

The better regulated you can your "highs and lows" and your situational tolerance level, the better chance you have of landing and keeping a decent job medical benefits.

I don't know how old you are, but keep trying to keep your "stuff" together. I'm nearly 50 and my son just turned 21 we're both bi-polar. You can imagine the fireworks that go off in our house.......

I was diagnosed 2 years after he was. He was diagnosed at 12 after he attempted suicide by hanging himself in our backyard. My insurance covers him until he's 25 as long as he stays in school.

Now there's a challenge for you; bi-polar disorder, ADHD, 18 years old and getting away from your bi-polar dad for 8 months...So much havoc so little time......

My mom was on disability for 2 mos due to her BP. She was getting overwelmed at work and switching meds didn't help anything! Even though the disability was nowhere near her work pay but she was eligible. i suggest you talk with your doctor thats how my Mom got the ball rolling for her disability. .

Good Luck!!

my daughter was diagnosed at a young age with bipolar we have educated our selvers alot on this, she does get a check from social security ssi, if you have been evaluated from a doctor you can apply this is a life long illness but with meds, and great support you can get through it.
