I took Honors Biology my freshman year, and I'll be taking honors Chemistry this fall. For my junior and senior years, I could take Physics or College level Biology or Chemistry. Which two should I take? Also, would precal and calculas be good, or would stats and precal be better?

Physics, statistics, and precal are all offered as honors classes. Calculus is offered as a collage level class. My school does not offer marine science, but it does offer anatomy and physiology honors. It also offers environmental science, but it is not reccomended for students going to college.

As much math and science as you can get...plus, last I knew, you needed a couple of foreign languages. Used to be it was French, English, Japanese, and Russian...but that may have changed. Go out to one of the college websites that offer a degree program in Marine Biology, and see what their program requirements are. The more of those you get in high school, the better off you are.

Please keep in mind, that if you want to BE a marine biologist, you may need a PhD to get a job in it. It was that way when I was going into the field....which is why I didn't do it.

I remember when I was in high school I took college level biology. I did get college credit for the class. Since I became a biology major the credit didn't transfer over very easily. I did convince the University to accept the credit as an elective, though. Keep that in mind and try to figure out how the system at your school works. If you can only choose between two of the three for a science class (physics, biology, or chemistry) I would definately take biology for one. I think physics or chemistry is up to what you want to do. Start looking at college course requirements for a marine biologist. Also, look at what you want to do with a degree in marine biology. If you want to study the populations of organisms in the ocean, then you should probably take the stats and precal. If you want to look more along the lines of the biochemistry of aquatic organisms, then take chemistry. Just look at what the requirements are and what you are interested in. You should also talk to your high school counselor. Finally, I commend you for taking an interest in your future at a time when most students don't have any idea what they want to do. Just remember that you can always change your mind. No matter what you take in high school, there will always be room for people who know math and science in college and beyond.

Plan for college. If you have a particular college in mind, find out if the college level course will transfer. They do not always. The courses taken in high school can ease the transistion to college since you will have seen some of the material from freshman courses before. Other than that, you will have to take cal, biology, physics, etc., college level courses anyway.

Focus on getting into a college that offers the program you're interested in majoring.

Depending on the courses available at your school, I would recommend anatomy and physiology, biology 2, and also take some upper level math. Try to take as many courses as you can through a dual enrollment program if possible (in Florida, St. Thomas University will college credit for certain courses at accredited high schools).

I agree, biology, chemistry, biochemistry or organic chemistry, physics and math to calculus would be good. If you have microbiology and botany, those would be good as well. You should see if you can take any college classes while you are a senior (some school districts have this).

Take the physics it shows you are more rounded as a science major. Take precal and calculus if you need stat it is easy to pick up either in a class or own your own.
