Yes I think the bible F'ed up a lot of things...well the new one anyway.
Take the commandment Thou shall not kill.
Ok Thou shall not kill,what?
I'm assuming people.;
But you never really know and should we leave such a commadment up to man-kind to interpret for us?

mypublicident: Thanks I didn't know that.
See, it just proves my point even more.
That it's all about where you come from.
The Bible is different where ever you go.

Hopefully, we don't need mankind to interpret the commandment Thou shall not kill. I hope the human race is a little smarter than that....regardless of the choice of religion :)

It was meant as thou shall not kill people. Killing animals as food and sacrifice was OK.
The general meaning from the Bible is good, be honest and take care of yourself and others.
The Bible is such an old book and has been translated from many different languages, that some of the meanings may have been changed through translation.
The general lessons however, are basically good.

I just want to refute the notion of another's that God commits murder or fails to follow the 10 commandments.
1. The 10 Commandments -- the Law -- were given to show man what it takes to be righteous. Jesus, the Son of God, fulfilled the Law and explained that it is not good enough simply follow the Law by your actions, but must also be in thought. Ultimately, the Law shows man that we cannot keep it on our own. We all are sinners fallen short of the glory of God, justly deserving hell (Rom 3:23). But Jesus sacrificed Himself out of love for us, so that those who place their faith in Him as Lord and Savior can also have eternal life. Where the Law judges, Christ forgives.
2. The Law was given by God to man, not the other way around. We are created by God to bring Him glory. God has the authority and ability to give and take life. God hates sin, and those who have no faith in Jesus will be judged. The penalty is not only bodily death, but the second death -- the lake of fire -- for all time. There is no escape from this...no hope...for unbelievers. For Christians to share the Gospel of Christ with you is an act of love...a desire to see you live rather than perish. But many simply choose to mock and make fun of Christians...look at Jesus...He was crucified a sinless man.
I leave you with this passage that ought to give all a respectful fear of God the Father, for whom we will all bow before some day...
(Duet. 32:39) "See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me; It is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded and it is I who heal, And there is no one who can deliver from my hand."

Gosh, I'm glad you brought this to my attention ... I too am confused ... I thought "Thou shall not" pertained to "Thou shall not let psycho bugs keep their insect wings " Interpreting this to, I must find all Psycho Bugs and pull their wings off of them.

For me, the Bible is there for each to interpret as they may. Pray about each "thou shalt not," wait for and answer, and work it out between you and God.

Yes.
What else? All commandments need interpreting.
But as the bible states in genesis, we are supposed to know right from wrong....as good a place to start as any.

thou shalt not buy in to the propaganda, intimidation, manipulation and brain washing techniques of popular faiths. instead, thou shalt be brave and independent, and think for thyself.
