It is black and white thinking to believe that people have to be this or that. One can believe in and practice a number of diverse spiritual paths in life. Personally I am a Christian, a Buddhist, a pagan and follow the Red Road.

A Buddhist may practice non-violence saving up good karma until they identify their great enemy.

The most traumatic and violent acts I ever witnessed were in the 1960's when Buddhist monks in Viet Nam were dousing themselves with gas and immolating themselves in direct protest against the USA.

A Christian is merely someone who believes and follows the teachings of Jesus. Many who claim and use that name (Christain) do not follow his teachings about loving your brother, turning the other cheek, giving comfort to women, children and the poor and that all are worthy of the father.

Just as the radical terrorists of Islam do not define the Muslim religion. Neither do these pseudochristians whose ethics come more from neo-conservatism the old testament and have little to do with the teachings of Christ.

If Budda, Allah or Jesus walked the Earth today how many of those who speak and act in their names do you think they would claim?

You're trying to substantiate your own assertions by appealing to matters of pure opinion. It is an opinion that Buddhists are considered the most peaceful people on the planet. But what about the Samurai? Some of them, perhaps many, were Buddhists. Yet, they were proficient killers.

You can't generalize like this.

There is good and bad in everything- and that is not an opinion- it is an immutable fact about the human condition. You have Buddhists who have killed innocent people, you have Christians who have killed innocent people, et cetera. Then there are Christians (and Buddhists) who go through their entire lives and don't so much as swat a fly. Violence is not confined to a particular faith or religion.

You generalizing that Christians are bloodthirsty is just as wrong as me generalizing that Muslims are bloodthirsty. There are a few bad apples out there, and they fall under every single category you can imagine.

Of course Christianity promotes peace- but in an imperfect world, please explain to me, how can we always be peaceful, when some people just will not respond to peaceful intentions? Unfortunately, sometimes, war is a necessary evil, when all else fails.

Injustices have been done in the name of every god under the sun.

You are only looking at the bad things. Why would you do this? You can't see everything that goes on on a daily basis. Christians, like me, do kind things for other people- but it isn't announced on the evening news. "No news is good news."

Christians (and, yes, non-Christians, too) do compassionate things for other people and animals every single day- we just don't see it.

For example, my friend at school just gave her roommate a car for free. She asks nothing in return.

See? Good things happen, but it's almost as if, by nature, we are programmed to look for the bad.

Here's the thing, bro. Christianity is a MAN MADE thing. For that matter, so is Buddhism. Religion was created by man in an attempt to contemplate and deal with spiritial matters, and since it was created by man, it is easily corrupted.

True christians do believe in peace, and practice it. Our religion, however, does not preclude a forceful response for protection or justice, but those situations are definitely the exception, not the rule.

Bottom line? True Buddhist and true christians are working for the same God.

Religion is mostly BS. Go to God for your answers.

Be well

Truer statement would be since almost every religion has been involved in war, then no religion promotes peace. Yes almost every religion has had war even your famed Buddhist religion of peace has been to war, look at the countries that are predominantly buddhist see they have been to war, maybe not the monks but then again I havent seen a pope go to war yet either.

This might seem to be a flippant answer but I am serious. A lot of people have used not only the Christian religion but all religions to further their own self-serving, self-centered agendas. These people claim to be believers of (insert religion of your choice) but often times are revealed as phony or fakes. This does not excuse the dreadful actions inflicted upon others. Nor do I believe that God would like His name being used in such a fashion.
My belief tells me that only God can determine whether these people are true Christians by looking into their heart and soul. I have no place to judge and am supposed to leave that up to God. I can have opinions however, and in my humble opinion anyone claiming to be a Christian and kills in the name of God probably is not.

Well...excuse me for saying this....but in reading your statement above, it sounds to me like you're saying all Buddhists are good people and all Christians are bad people, so why do Christians who believe in Jesus go to heaven while Buddhists do not.

No one is good, not one. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God is not pleased by sinful acts. But yes....acceptance of Jesus Christ as savior washes away that sin and a person who has lived a life of sin...even at the last moment of their life, if they truly repent (truly being the operative word here)....can be saved and go to heaven.

You can't group an entire religion together and say Buddhists deserve salvation because they are all peaceful and Christians don't because they have killed in Jesus' name. That just doesn't make any sense.

God has made a way to salvation, through His son. A true, born again believer in Christ will desire to follow God's ways, although they may fail daily. A Buddhist does not accept Jesus as his savior...therefore there is no salvation for him unless he does.

I know this makes people very angry. But it needs to be stated over, and over and over....because it is what God has said in His word, the bible.

You are very correct in the fact that Christianity has been abused in the past and used as a basis to do evil. Trust me, they will be judged by God.

In our religion, God judges us by the intents of our hearts first and foremost and that results in the actions we do.

But please remember this. I and everyone else are not responsible for what happened in the Middle Ages. Nor are you responsible for what your parents or someone else did.

And yes, there are still evil Christians out there. But what people don't see is that there are a whole lot of Good Christians, who do exemplify Christ in their daily walk.

But it's a vicious cycle. We're not supposed to do things to be seen of men, so we don't openly go about doing good. We do it behind the scenes as God commands us to do.

Because we do good things behind the scenes, people don't understand just how genuine the real Christians are. Those who are not Christians tend to see the negatives, but don't see the good.

More and more, Christians are starting to wake up and understand that Being Christ-like means to do the same things as good people in other religions. But we still do those things quietly behind the scenes.

As to the evil people that can go to heaven. In our religion, heaven is to be in God's house. He invites those who accept His invitation. Through his death and resurrection he provided the ticket to heaven, so we could be with God. But the reason that an evil person can go to heaven is Repentance. But repentence is not just about saying the right words. It's a life change. It means to turn away from the evil you did before.

So, will the rapists, murderers and such go to heaven? Only if their heart, made a commitment to a life change in their ways. That's what repentence is. And only God and that person truly know if that person really wants to make a life change or just wants to avoid retribution.

And that's one of the blessings that God allows. He doesn't care what you have done in the past. It doesn't matter if you were bad or evil before. But he offers an escape from doing these evil things, and that takes a commitment from the person to make a life change. The beauty of salvation and true repentance is that God paid the penalty and if a person chooses, they can accept this life change.

But life change is not simply saying the magical words, it's about being willing to change your life to follow God. If you do that, God allows forgiveness.

You are confusing cultural christianity with truely following Christ

Jesus promotes peace with eachother and with God
The most important peace with God and amnesty if offered to all men through the cross

People may play political games and follow their own ideas in substitute for God;s ways

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Forget religion.

Christ is the path of salvation.
Christ is the truth of God's Word.
Christ is the life eternal.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ is the tree of life.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
