In ISLAM we believe Jesus was not crucified but made to appear so. His body was taken up to heaven where he will reside untill the time comes for him to defeat the anti-christ.

I am not sure what people mean whe nthey say 'open minded' christian. it seems to me they want to hear the answer they are looking for and anything else is not open minded or worth considering. To be perfectly honest with you, I don't have any other material evidence that proves that christ was crucified. You don't want the Bible, but the fact is that the Bible is a historical document- much of what is in their has been proven historicly. I can take any historical document and just because I am not comfortable with it say that I don't believe it - heck, I don't even have to read it or give it any consideration- just based on what I hear about it I can make a judgement of belief or disbelief- that does not make it any less true. Basically whether or not you decide to believe the Bible has absolutely no bearing on its validity.
The only other evidence I have for the crucifixtion of Jesus is my personal relationship. that is not something that I can explain to you, bestow on you or make you understand- in order to have a relatonship with someone - you must put forth the effort. there are a lot of things in this world that seem to be easier or more comfortable to believe- but that does not make them the truth.
I mean, really, why would anyone want to believe that what was portrayed in The Passion really happened. It would be so much more comfortable for me to think we could all live like we wanted, no one would ever get hurt and we could all go on living like that in some kind of euphoric paradise forever- but that is not the way it is, and there are reasons for that- some I understand and others I don't- but my intellect amounts to about 3 lbs of rotting worm food compared to an omiscient and omnipresent God so who am I to doubt ? I have to trust and for me the Bible is my authority and my relationship confirms that. I believe that you can only have confirmation with a relationship and not everyone that uses the Bible (as it is often used for evil selfish purposes) has that relationship.

That's an easy one ...
the bible is actually a historic document corraborated by independent evidence from various sources:
Roman filings and court documents - (remember, Judae and Galilea were roman provinces which were part of the best and most efficient bureaucracies the old world had)
- letters and writings in other languages and cultures - not only the New Testament aramaic, but latin, greek and others.
- it's a sure thing that Jesus was a historic figure, born around 33 BC, died as a convicted "king of the Jews" on a cross on Golgatha executed by the roman army on the request of the jewish clergy
However, who Jesus was and what he did for this world and for all humans is a matter of faith for many, a matter of intellectual dispute for some, a matter of ignorance and hostility for a few poor souls ....
God is love, poor and simple, he can and will save you if you have faith.
Even if you don't - yet - the Bible is one of the world's oldest and most comprehensive collection of stories, letters, tales and - most importantly - historic descriptions ever.
Even if you don't believe in the Bible, it's the most successful book ever, and its all about God and us, love, compassion, life, eternal life even.
Which other book you know can give you so much for so many, not just matters of faith and God, from dietary advice to health and sanitation, history lessons, maps and geography and so much more ...
enjoy it and God bless you ..

Lady: there is plenty of Extra biblical evidence of the historical cruxifiction of Jesus Christ. Since your not willing to read the bible try the book of Josephus. He documents the cruxifiction of Jesus as well as the writings of several other historians of that era. But Josephus is the best. I recommend reading Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell if your open to a lively discussion about Christianity. I am quoting some of the extrabibical sources that are used in Josh Mcdowells book. Cornelius Tactus a Roman Historian. Lucian of Samosta confirms Jesus Christ existance. The jews themselves confirm in there Historical writing about Jesus of Nazareth who was cruxified ( Babylonian Talmud) Check these sources as well. God Bless
Additional Info: I see that you answered someone else about being a muslim. Your Koran points to the bible (The Writings of Moses, The Prophets, and the teachings of Jesus) as scripture that one can trust. Read Isaiah 53. This is the old testament in which the Koran accepts as scripture.

Whether you personally believe the bible or not, from a religious perspective, is irrelevant. The Bible is hundreds of years closer to the events in question than the Quran is (which came in the 6th century), and so stands as a more likely source for providing a reliable history of what happened to Jesus in 1st century Judea.
But most of all, you should show respect. You cannot expect Christians to discuss Christianity without referencing the bible. That would be like one of us asking you to discuss Islam without referencing the Quran. It is profoundly disrespectful.
But I digress.
The earliest portions of the New Testament were written within twenty years of the crucifixion - Paul's letters. There is no way Paul's letters would have spread from community to community if they contained such a colossal error, since many of the churches he wrote to were communities set up by apostles or disciples who were there. In the time these letters were written, there still were living witnesses who surely would have said, "Hey waita minute! Jesus wasn't crucified, I was there, someone else was!!!" They would surely have raised doubts about Paul's letters.
Furthermore, Paul's letters contain some slight differences in writing style which show he drew on earlier sources, some possibly from within a few years of the crucifixion - for instance Paul quotes what may have been a first-decade hymn:
"Therefore, it says: 'Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.'"
Clearly, the belief that Jesus died and rose goes right back into Jesus' own decade!!
Now - leaving the bible aside, there are other historical statements regarding the crucifixion:
In Tacitus annals - Tacitus is the famous historian who in the early second century reliably chronicled the history of the Roman Empire - he wrote, "Christus, the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius." This confirms the essentials of the gospel accounts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacitus_on_Jesus
The historian Josephus is also believed to have mentioned the crucifixion, although interpolation prevents us from knowing the original text.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josephus_on_Jesus
Justin Martyr, a 2nd century Roman, tells a colleague named Trypho in one of his accounts that the crucifixion is mentioned in Rome's records of Pontius Pilate's prelature in Judaea - "And that these things happened you can ascertain from the Acts of Pontius Pilate," he says. Although the actual Roman historical records do not survive today, bits and pieces of them survive in a writing called "Acts of Pilate."
The crucifixion happened. I realize for reasons of piety you have to accept the Quranic words "and they crucified him not." But understand that, from a historical perspective, this DID happen.

You know we can't prove something that happen over 2000 yrs old ago. Your mind is already made up because of your critcal statement for as the bible. If you can't respect the bible you can't respect us as CHRISTIANS WHO LIVE BY IT! The passion of Christ was a great movie and has shown some historical facts! Jesus was crucified and you can believe what you want! Move on with ur life if you are here for hidden agendas.

Why don't you believe in the bible? It IS a history book. If we can believe in ancient history, why not believe in a history that was recorded 2000 years ago by EYE WITNESSES?
Even in research, scientists have found proof and artifacts that match up with the stories of the bible. Experts can indicate age in these artifacts that line up with bible times.
They think that there is a possibility that the Shroud of Turin was an image of Jesus after he had died on the cross.
Although I don't base my faith on it, it DOES have all the markings as described in the bible about Christs Crucifixion.

Open minded or close minded. All christians believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins. There is no thinking outside of the box for us christians that he didn't. The evidence for me has yet to come, but I am faithful and prepared, and it feels sooooo good.

Jesus was crucified. The Bible and historic Roman records bear it out that because He was found to be guilty of "blasphemy", He was put to death. People oversaw it and others WITNESSED Him scourged, plaited with a crown of thorns, mocked, spat upon, slugged with fists, AND NAILED TO A CROSS THROUGH THE WRISTS AND FEET! And for what? The SINS of ALL the world for ALL time, that's what!

It's not about the facts. It's a fact that a man named Jesus Christ was born in Bethlaham.
So what?
You need to have faith or your question and all of the answers you get are empty.
Why don't you ask God? Pray about it.

The Bible itself is accepted as a historical book.
Obviously you are not a history student.
Try to contact some "open minded" historians and ask them about it.
Movies are just that, movies. Some based in history but can't prove nothing. Hollywood is not the best resource for history.
