The wet foot/dry foot policy allows cuban rafters who reach our soil (actually setting foot on dry land) to stay here under political assylum, and cuban rafters who are intercepted at sea are sent back to Cuba. ALL other illegal inmigrants from ANY other country or nation in the world caught trying to enter the US by land, air or sea w/out visas are automatically sent back to where they came from. This policy was widely exploited during the Mariel boat lift in the early 80's (Castro temporarily opened up the harbors & allowed any cuban to leave), resulting in thousands of cubans reaching Miami. This upset in demographics has turned Miami into a little Cuba, where cubans there want everything said & done in spanish (including the AMERICAN national anthem!), all policies & laws to benefit them, and basically cornered Florida's local & state governments into catering to their whims for fear of "political incorrectness." Enough! Getting to keep Guantanamo base open is not worth it!

I agree with you totally. Our immigration policies our prejudicial and antiquated. I believe if people want to live America; then become Americans in heart and in spirit. Individuals coming here for the dollar, have no loyalties to the country or its future.

I think the state of florida needs to charter a bunch of boats n planes and have bona-fide enforcement and deportation. Send cuba home, send mexico home, wrench WAY down on the whole immigraiton thing for a while...

I agree. It was stupid and done for stupid reasons and we have no need for it nor do we want it. Just another way to reward criminals for being here.

It doesn't matter because it is still the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA fair and square. If you don't like it then LEAVE you illegal criminal. And it is not a Mexican name anyways. They stole that name (like they do with a lot of things they want to make there own). The name they have stolen and use is from the Aztecs, who were never that far north to begin with.

That law should be abolished to conform to our tightened homeland security policies. I don't see how they could keep it intact and say we have adequate homeland security. ANY person of Latino descent could come on shore there and say they are from CUBA!! Even an illegal MEXICAN!! (thieves, rapists, pedophiles, murderers, TERRORISTS, who-knows-what!!)

Corrupt republicans are the ones keeping the policy so they do their dirty alliance with drug kingpins from south and Caribbean smugglers. How do think most republicans got so rich after leaving the white house?

Yes, it isn't fair to others who want to come. Just because the U.S doesn't like communism doesn't mean we need to bend the rules for one group of people. It isn't right.
