The wet foot/dry foot policy allows cuban rafters who reach our soil (actually setting foot on dry land) to stay here under political assylum, and cuban rafters who are intercepted at sea are sent back to Cuba. ALL other illegal inmigrants from ANY other country or nation in the world caught trying to enter the US by land, air or sea w/out visas are automatically sent back to where they came from. This policy was widely exploited during the Mariel boat lift in the early 80's (Castro temporarily opened up the harbors & allowed any cuban to leave), resulting in thousands of cubans reaching Miami. This upset in demographics has turned Miami into a little Cuba, where cubans there want everything said & done in spanish (including the AMERICAN national anthem!), all policies & laws to benefit them, and basically cornered Florida's local & state governments into catering to their whims for fear of "political incorrectness." Enough! Getting to keep Guantanamo base open is not worth it!
