I have decided to keep one of my pups from this liter. Mom is seprated from them now but I want to know how long it takes before her milk is gone and I can let her with the pup.

Mom's nipples are bleeding and ripped open. She will let them eat and just look at me and cry. (pups are 6 weeks) which all Dobe breeders I know stop feeding by 5 weeks.

Keep mom and pup together - why separate them? Mom will wean the pup naturally and the milk will dry up in the process - it's nature - why worry? It'll take care of itself - unless there's a medical reason as to why she needs to dry up, let nature take it's course. *If it is necessary to dry up the dam's milk, withhold all food and water for 24 hours. The next day, feed her one-quarter of the normal amount. The third day feed one-half the normal amount., and the fourth day feed three-quarters of the normal amount. After that she can resume her normal diet.

Over the years I have had several pets, dogs and cats mostly and have had several litters of puppies.
My suggestion is to let Mom and pup stay together. As the pup starts to eat more solid food, the mother's milk will dry up naturally. Mom will only nurse the pup until it starts biting her. Mom will finish the weaning process herself. Leaving them together will only strengthen the bond between them. Then you will have 2 good dogs.
Mom can help teach the pup other things that it needs to know also. Such as, an easy way to house break the pup is to have it go outside with Mom. This does take a little watching on your part, but it works!

i don't raise dogs, but i would think that she'll eventually stop producing milk even if the pup is still sucking. he'll be eating more and more food, so will want less milk.. nature doesn't separate pups from moms, and i assume she dries up.
i don't think you have to worry about keeping the pup from her, unless you want her to dry up faster than usual.

You have to not let her have food or water for a 24 hour period. It's hard, and make sure she is in a cool comfy place, but this will stop her milk production. Why is she seperated from her puppies? At around six weeks they should start being weened from their mother, and she will do that naturally.

There really is no standard...like with humans, one woman could dry in a week, another could take two.....when I took my puppies off mom, she was dry in a week and a half....just keep checking her (try to squeeze milk out if she will let you)...she may still be saggy for a little while.

The mother will stop producing milk about a week to two after the puppies are no longer sucking.
