No. That just lends more weight to the atheist side. It's pretty hard to look @ self-proclaimed "christians" in a favorable light when they cheat on their spouses & taxes, keep driving by without helping a motorist in trouble, sneak candies into their pockets from the bins @ the grocery store, stick their aging parents into a nursing home to die alone, curse @ others when angered, and every-day little stuff like that. Amazingly, these same people will then dress in their Sunday best & go to church (for the weekly fashion & gossip show) and sing their heads off praising jesus. That's like seven different sins for which they get to say sorry, be forgiven by some divine power, and then start all over again the next week with a clean slate. If that's being a christian, it sure doesn't sound like any "good book" teachings that I ever heard of. It's a bunch of hipocrites that only truly believe in a "god" when something REALLY bad happens or when they need something REALLY bad. No thanks...

The reason there are a growing number of atheists today is the rise of the use of reason itself. Broadly speaking, people are becoming more educated and hence thinking more....and one of the first things that anyone realizes once they start thinking is the obvious fact that religion is nothing but the preposterous nonsense of a delusion. One day, educated people will look back at this era and shake their heads in disbelief that so many people actually swallowed religion, just like we look back now and wonder how people could have been so ignorant and stupid to burn witches at the stake, although there are probably christians today who believe in witches along with the rest of their fairy tale fantasy world.

Nope. I'm an atheist and I promise you that it was not the fault of any Christian that I don't believe in a god. I'm not a Christian because I don't think the doctrines of the church are the truth for various reasons. I'm not a theist because I view all other religions similarly and do not see a reson to assume a god exists. It's really that simple. It would be stupid for someone to be an atheist just because Christians didn't preach to them all the time or because some Christians may not be "christianly."

No, I don't agree. I'm not even sure I understand your point. Why should I not go about my normal life? Becoming a Christian doesn't make me any different physically than you. Being a Christian does means that I have assurance of love, forgiveness, peace and someday heaven.

There are a lot of people out there that call themselves Christians, but are not having a true relationship with Jesus. They think they are Christians because they are "good" people. There are others that call themselves Christians, but you never see signs of it.

A true Christian will produce fruit, meaning will grow in faith. They will read their Bible and they will try to talk about Jesus. Being a Christian does not make a person perfect. It makes a person forgiven.

No. That's a rather odd question, especially since we have Christans who like knocking on doors. But we have atheists because people have minds of their own and they see no reason to believe. If everyone of "Religion" were to go out their door and go on with Their normal lives, there probably wouldn't be this much talk about religion.

That is about the dumbest thing I have heard yet in this group. Come on...you have got to have more brains than that. The reason we have atheists today is because people don't live what they believe. They just parrot what someone else said. In other words, the atheists don't see the authenticity of what you're pointing to.

No..... you don't really make sense. I have never been a Christian, only an Atheist, and I would never allow someone to "convert" me simply because I am unable to believe there has ever been a god. I am not an Atheist because no one has ever tried to make me religious, and to think that you must have a very low ability to reason truth. You spelled "agreed" wrong.

I disagree. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say, but it seems to be incorrect.

The reason you have atheists today, and throughout history, is because reasonable people have always seen faith for what it is: an attempt by primitive people to explain what was, at the time, unexplainable.

You are very right, how can anyone believe in something when those who claim it never live it?

I fall way short but I don't quite trying, I claim a faith in Jesus and I try to model my life after His teaching. It is about the relationship and the walk. Don't listen to my words but watch my actions. They will speak louder than anywords that I could ever say.

the reason we have atheist today is because those with the ability to think have taken a step back and seen how ridiculous religion is. u all are full of hypocrisy, hate, lust, lies, jelousy... just like everyone else in the world. u r still living in false beliefs, just like muslims are when they talk about crusaders and infedils. u all r just ashamed of admitting your parents forced this wrong onto u.
