Sure, stating that god doesn't exists is an act of faith, just as saying that he does not.
I'm agnostic, and I feel that it is the only possible honest stance on this matter.
On the other hand, i do not believe that atheism leads to a sense of lost identity.. some people are strong enough to accept life as it is, with the inevitable death, without the need of believing in a magical land were everybody will be happy...

There is evidence that a person's ability to have faith in a God or Gods is genetic and not something people have anything to do with. If this is true then you cannot condemn people for not having faith or not being religious, as it is a part of them just as much as their eye color.
I am an atheist because I am unable to feel the presence of a higher being and think that I would have some sort of gut feeling if there were one. You could not possibly know what it is like to feel the way I feel, so how can you judge me?
I do not believe that there is a point to life other than what I make of it. I have no desire to live in anarchy. I know who I am in the deepest of senses, and therefore suffer no loss of identity.
I do not know what it is like to be you, but I know that what I believe is right for me, and that is good enough. I hope you can be satisfied enough with who you are and the choices you have made to live your own life without the need to judge my beliefs.

I don't believe that having something to die for is the point of life. That seems silly. I'd like to see your proof that atheism leads to anarchy and a sense of lost identity. I think that atheists often have a very strong sense of identity and concern for humanity, because they believe that is all we have. I would counter your argument and say that an unwavering belief in one ultimate truth can be more dangerous than an inquisitive attitude. It leads to a herd mentality, which can cause intolerance and feelings of superiority. Those things can be seen in your attitude when asking this question. I am not an atheist, but I used to be. Through my searching and questioning, I have learned the importance of tolerance and respect, and the dangers of viewing beliefs I may not understand as "pathetic."

It is very much easier to believe in a God, and to blame all one's misdeeds on a fictitious satan.
Religion is good, because it helps bringout the good in dense people.
But often it fails in that objective , and then usually brings out the worst in people. Just think how many people are ready to kill for their religion!
Religion is a protected lake, atheism is a rapid river, Don't go in the latter if you lack the capabilities to know the diference between right and wrong, or the ability to think clearly and logically. But a lake, however safe can also be deep enoughto drown people.
There should be more to life than a stupid desire to f#$k 74(or was that 78? ) virgins, once you are dead. If going to heaven is the only reason people are good, they are not that good , are they? At least, when atheists show kindness orcompassion towards their fellow humanbeings, they are not counting their frequent-flier-points, which they can redeem from St Peters for a stay in heaven?
And please! refuse to live to die. We all die, but that doesn't mean we should look forward to it, or make it our only purpose in life. Would you like to kill yourself, offering yourself to God as Someone offered their son? This dying for religion is the very thing that makes Osama such a hero in many parts of this world.
If only people who believe in religion agreed to silently die fortheir religion, instead of butchering innocents for it, the rest of theworld would be a paradise, if not heaven.
If patriotism is the first resort of a scoundrel, Religion will be the second.

I believe that's the point... Atheism has no spiritual foundation. That's why they're called Atheists. And you're entitled to your opinion, that they are pathetic... but that hardly changes things. And the emotional plea that I see in your "question" most likely won't work.
And how do you figure it leads to anarcy? You mean to tell me that "religion" doesn't have that as well? Should we go to the news and see what kind of Religious Anarchy is going on. Today, the biggest crimes I see being committed are those by Religious people who feel they are doing the will of their God. So I'm not sure how you get that Atheism leads to anarcy.

Of course atheism has no spiritual foundation, you silly person. Atheists do not believe in things for which there is zero evidence. In fact, if you look at how the world and the universe is structures, it is, to the educated, crystal clear that there is no god and that the universe operates just fine on its own set of natural laws.
Why should one have something to die for when life is all there is? Giving people something to die for is the most horrible thing you can do to them.

you're right atheism has no basis in god. That's why we like it. We feel that to look around and asume that some all powerful invisible guy made everything, is not only very flawed logic, but lazy to give the same cause for everything. When the science is out there to explain it properly, it is anything but nonsense to belive what you CAN see. And, we don't need a fear of god to make us behave like civilized people. How many people who are murderers have said "god told me to do that" ? So, you know god didn't save their innocent victims or guide the fruit-loop in the right direction. So, he either doesn't exist or is a jerk.

Yes,it's a joke. They have two separate systems: weak atheists and strong atheists. If an atheist don't believe in nothing why be weak? It's nonsense. They live immorally because they say "that they don't believe in sin." An excuse to live in sin. They don't even know whether they are a religion or not. There is no such think as a spiritual atheist because you must believe something! How can a atheist have faith? They have no purpose in life but to continue to live in sin. Most of them believe in evolution which is non absolutes! They're just disgruntle ex-Christians bitter towards God!

Correct, there is spiritual foundation because there is no god. It is not pathetic. What hard, irrefutable, physical proof do you have of your god? None. That is why you believe in faith. I do not. It does not lead to anarchy or lost identity. I live because I am alive, due in no part to a god. Plus a good beer.
As for Tom de Addley, we are not sick and do not need your help or prayers.

perhaps, but then again it used to be the earth was the center of the universe and it was on penalty of death to dispute that religious conviction, now wasn't it? We learn as we go along. Humans have always ascribed to a god of some form that which they did not understand..ie, the sun, seasons, stars, crops, famines, etc etc. As we grew in knowledge those old things faded away as they should.
Which wondrs are we talking about? Why is your path the only one that doesnt lead to anarchy? All religions, or just yours?
