There are lots of religions in the world. How can I know that Hinduism or Buddhism or Christianity or Islam is the true religion.

God is part of everyone, and you are part of God already. Find your own truth, if you find it in a religion--fine, but there are none better, only different. You are already at home with God. The constraint of a man made religion put too many rules on what is really quite simple.

That is a good question. Not only do you have to figure out which branch of religion is right but which individual denomination within that branch is right. They all seem to have good parts to them. However, it makes sense that God would work through one true religion since he is one true God. I have studied several different religions and the only advice I will give you is this.

Matthew 7:15-20 says in regards of how to identify a true prophet, "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You don't pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles. A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced".

So the way to identify the true religion is by its "fruit". What it produces in the people who are part of it. If it produces good fruit, qualities like love, peace, mildness, joy, etc. then that is a good sign that it has God's backing. If its followers do not show love, peace, mildness, joy and other good qualities, then look else where.

And as the others mentioned, the more you pray for guidance, the more God will direct you. For now, I would read the bible and study it on your own so you can determine what religions are in line with it's teaching and which are not.

Which of the religions you are considering makes the claim that you should only believe it if the events of its founding are historical facts?

That gives you a much shorter list to deal with. It might get you down to 2 or 3. Then you have to sort out whether those historical events have any meaning for people today, thousands of years after the fact.

Then you have to do the hardest part: you have to change if one of them is true and makes claims on your life.

That's the hardest part. The good news is if you get the right answer, you are not stuck with your own power to change to cross the gap.

Pray and ask God. God is not a religion and you can choose to not practice one at all. But be careful because if it is GOD you are searching for, many RELIGIONS do not honor or even acknowledge God. Christianity comes from the root word CHRIST..which suffered on the cross and died for your sins. I don't think that is a religion..it is a belief! Who do you want to believe in?

I started looking at all religions and as I found the ones that did not center around love and condoned things that were blatantly wrong like war I moved on.

Prayer to the creator, God and ask as a person that truly wants to know him and you will be drawn to the true religion.

No one can answer that for you. Take the time to explore your own beliefs - attend different services, talk to people of all religions, and read the texts. Which mirrors your beliefs? Try praying -what feels right to you? Don't expect a quick answer. Some people spend their whole lives searching for a "true" faith. Maybe the beauty of spirituality is in the search........

If it's a relationship with God you want then stay away from religion and independently pray in your heart and read His word. Denominations are just different styles of worship and how or what people choose to worship. If you dwell one who's right, you'll only become confused and you will miss the whole point of what you desire in your heart when you say you need and want God.
When you say you need and want God, then just stick to that and you'll find Him.

What are looking for out of faith??? Are you just looking for religion or faith? Do you know that there is a difference between the two?

I profess a faith, a belief in things unseen. I believe in Jesus Christ and I am learning everyday, I look to His example, what did He do, and try to model my life after that. To put others before myself, To have concern passion, concerned love for the betterment of others. That is where my faith is centered. How can anyone else believe what I do if I never live what I claim? Would they?

Faith has to be lived daily, practiced daily. It is about the relationship and the walk.

So the question is what are you looking for?

Dear (Blessing upon you),

This is the question you have to ask your self, you are in search of truth so use your wisdom, struggle about it as it would be not easy.

Followers from every religion would say their religion is best and the only one based on truth and shows you path to find God.Being a Muslim i would like to avail this opportunity to invite you to become Muslim and find your destiny and Allah (God).

Spent some time on reading about Islam, have faith in you that you have to find truth and right path and by blessings of Allah you will find every thing you want.

Khurram
