There is so much to do in Atlanta (very near Alpharetta). Here are a few websites so you can really be informed of what there is out there.
www.garenfest.com Renaissance Festival going on right now
www.woccatlanta.com/ World of Coca Cola,
www.zooatlanta.org/ Atlantic Zoo,
www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org Atlanta Botanical Gardens,
www.underground-atlanta.com/ Underground Atlanta (similar to the Great Mall in MN).

Regardless of how old your daughter is (my suggestion would be to ignore the 1st post you got) it is important to do things as a family. I hope you and your family enjoy your trip.

Zoo Atlanta, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanical Garden has a childrens section, Children Museum of Atlanta...those are a few places you can look into. But be warned the ticket prices are VERY expensive if youre on a tight budget. All those places have websites you can check out. For the aquarium you have to make reservations online..its just that busy.

One place that is free and fun is going down to Centennial Olympic Park and letting your child play in the water fountains that shoot from the ground. Lots of families go down there and just enjoy some time cooling off in the water.

There are lots of places to eat also...but thats another topic *lol*

There are tons of things to do with kids but a one year old is not going to get much out of the trip other than just hot. Along with the other suggestions White Water has a section that is zero depth water that is made just for the littlest ones. All nice and foam padded. Stop at any childs store (toy, clothes and party) and pick up a free copy of Atlanta's Parent mag. There is always a ton of ideas in it.

Well, Alpharetta is like many other small towns; there's a charming downtown area with lots of revived, upscale shopping, and the usual attendant malls. Starting from the exact downtown, take Haynes Bridge Rd., cross Rt. 400, and soon you'll come to shopping & dining heaven. Turn right on North Point Parkway for access to everything you can think of, including many stores with baby and children's items.

You might also want to check out:

Wills Park Equestrian Center (Wills Rd);
Webb Bridge Park (Webb Bridge Rd);
Alpharetta City Pool (Old Milton Pkwy)

It's a nice place, and I hope you enjoy your visit!

This is right outside of Atlanta and the possibilities are endless for things to do.

As a father of two and grandfather of the same I should add, however, that one year olds really prefer things like empty shoe boxes and vanilla wafers to sight seeing.
