Frontline is better than Advantage. Advantix is supposed to be better than Frontline, but from experience, I would say that Frontline and Advantix are the same.

I have been working in the pet industry for quite a long time and have both used these products and have had a lot of customer feedback.

Frontline is scientifically the best because it kills fleas and flea eggs and larvae. This means once those fleas are killed then you dog shouldn't get them again.

Advantage only kills ADULT fleas which means that all of those flea eggs that have been laid on your dogs, in your carpet, etc. Will hatch and cause just as much problem in the future.

I always recommend that is someone has a HUGE flea problem to get Advantage first because it kills the fleas almost instantly. Within a day or two you will see a dramatic decrease. For prolonged prevention you really need to go with the Frontline because it will stop those flea eggs from hatching.

So Frontline it is!

Here is another consideration. There is a product called Zodiac which you can buy over the counter from pet stores which is EXACTLY the same as Frontline (so better then Advantage) but costs maybe a third of the price of these other products. I have had huge success with this product. It also kills ticks and mosquitos.

Which ever product you use you SHOULD see results. Good luck! and don't forget...if you have a flea infestation, clean everything and everywhere the dog has been!

Either Works great...Frontline kills fleas and ticks....Advantage only kills fleas. Frontline plus kills fleas and the eggs. At our hospital, we don't consider Frontline Plus necessary bc as soon as the eggs hatch, regular frontline kills them. Frontline plus took a lot more work to get onto the market, they had a few initial problems with it...so we don't sell it. (advantix is horrible, don't buy that...I saw someone else mentioned that) It takes about 24 hours for the treatment to work...if your dog has fleas very bad, go to your vet and get a capstar pill. The capstar pill instantly kills all of the fleas, but only lasts for 24 hours, so that is why you apply the frontline/advantage at the same time. After applying the treatment, be sure not to bathe for at least 72 hours.

frontline and advantage are both really great flea products - the only difference is that frontline kills ticks and is also waterproof - whereas advantage only kills fleas and flea eggs. If you bathe your pet often or if they swim alot - use the frontline - otheriwise it doesn't really matter. just stay away from the cheap flea products like Hartz and such.

Frontline. But I would assume that he has fleas all ready which means there are flea eggs. Advatage does not get rid off the flea eggs. Frontline plus does. I recomend that.

In my experience, Frontline Plus is the better of the two.

Advantix is better than Frontline and I have used both. I use advantix on my 2 dogs. It repels ticks, fleas, and mosquitos. I have yet to find a tick on my dogs.

I would most certainly use REVOLUTION. it prevents heartworm, fleas, and many other parasites. It is safe for pups
, and applies as drops to the back of the neck. Instead of putting poisons in to your dog you are protecting his skin from exposure. This is from the label:
This monthly topical application prevents heartworms while controlling fleas and ear mites, mange mites, mosquitoes (and the diseases they carry) Revolution® is safe for use on puppies and kittens over 6 weeks of age and it is waterproof after 2 hours, so it remains effective even after shampooing, swimming, rain or exposure to sunlight.
