People have free choice (Free Will) to believe what they want to believe regardless of if it is the truth or not. What really separates belief from fiction is faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 My faith in Jesus Christ separates me from others who just have a religion. I have a personal relationship with the One who I consider the Creator of the Heavens and Earth(Genesis 1:1) I have faith because I placed my trust in the God who declares Himself God alone. He has proven to me that He exists and He is God. When I ask for healing and it happens then I can put my faith in God because He has done what I asked. Even when He doesn't do what I ask it is always for a greater reason than I could ever understand. That is how God works. Do we understand at all. The answer is No

Too many people believe in religion without thinking about it. You believe in what you have been told your whole life, then without a doubt believe there is a God. There is no proof per say, not that I have a problem with God, but I think those that believe without a question are fools. Just because you have faith in something doesn't mean it exists. I can believe in flying green and pink cows, are you telling me that I'm wrong cause I have as much faith in that as you do in God? Ok, what if I convinced thousands of uneducated people, as we define educated today, that this cow did exist and then someone wrote a book of the cow's rules and laws? Then people for thousands of years also believe in this with all the faith in the world. This is conceivably how all religions started.

Then you read the Bible and God in intervening in all these people's lives, talking to them and whatnot, but 2000 years later the only people that God talks to are those that kill their kids or other people. Why not intervene on 9/11, Katrina, or the Tsunami? My point is that the stories don't really make sense.

On top of all else, you have things like Noah's Ark. How long did that flood last? What did the animals on the ark eat? He couldn't grow enough food to feed 2 of every herbivore for that long. What do you feed the carnivores? How did you keep the birds from flying away, the lions from eating the antelope, the anteaters from eating the ants? How about the penguins, they couldn't survive the same temperature as the Komodo Dragons. There are thousands of species of certain animals, how big was the boat? The largest ship made 2000 years later wouldn't be big enough to do this.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but if you believe in everything you were taught in church or the Bible, some things don't add up. What proof do you have that your God exists anymore than my flying green and pink cow?

I'm not sure if that's a pro-religion question or an anti-religion question, really...

If you are a believer, you probably view every other religion as fiction. Other people who believe differently than you view your beliefs as fiction. Thus, every belief is viewed as fiction by the majority of the world.

Why do they still believe? Well, fear of the unknown is my only guess.

It is difficult for Atheist and even some agnostics to recognize the purpose of religion.

Science is for testable, repeatable phenomenon, but what about conjecture about things that aren't testable, or not repeatable?

Philosophy is for those things that are testable, but not repeatable, or repeatable, but not testable (such as the nature of happiness), but what about things that are not testable AND not repeatable?

And here we have religion. Atheism (not all of them, but some, as you would be surprised at the diversity of opinion within this one word) is sometimes a religious belief, in which the idea is that "God DOES not exist", believed in despite the fact that no proof exists. One of the basic premisses of science is that one cannot prove something does not exist if one cannot exhastively test everything, everywhere.

Then there are Atheists that simply say, "Since there is no evidence that God exists that satisfies me/science/logic/(whatever critiria is used), therefore there is no reason to even contemplate the idea that God exists.

Agnostics (again, a lot of variety here, but basically) simply don't know and leave it open/or pursue the idea to find out, but don't 'believe' either way.

i'm a reliable Christian yet i do not have self belief in prepared faith, church looks a funny tale to me. lots of the failings practiced in church homes are incorrect and then there are issues that the church has positioned into the bible to make people follow how the church specifies. Judaism is the oldest properly-known faith, they were round from the starting up of time and that is the position you get Christianity. Christians are the Jews who followed Jesus. Christianity hasn't been round always yet Judaism has. technological knowledge easily nevertheless hasn't shown evolution, they have shown evolution interior a species yet by no skill has it been shown or ever will be that we've advanced from monkeys. all the Lord somewhat asks is for faith. you do not ought to stay with the bible to a T nor can everyone somewhat stay completely. i do not follow the bible because that is been revised and edited to in good structure the Christian desires yet that would not make my faith any a lot less. God would not enable for evil interior the international, evil is the absence The Lord. in basic terms as darkness is the absence elementary or chilly is the absence of warmth. once you at the prompt are not interior the Lord's sight it makes you venerable to the evil artwork of the devil. i do not bypass to church yet I do have reliable faith in Jesus and God. i do not care what people have self belief and that i will not attempt to regulate them, yet because you requested I gave you my elementary opinion.

It is not the religion they believe in. It is their 'God' where the faith lies, which most in any religion do not believe is fiction. Some follow the guidelines associated with a faith and some, like me, do not. We just believe in our God and what all is associated with it for us. In my case, I don't think the 'rules' and scriptures are fiction, just biased. IT is my opinion which every one has a different one. Hope this helps!! Good question!!

You create a false statement and then build an argument around it.
It is NOT viewed as fiction by millions of people

That it's viewed as fiction is debatable in itself, and then we would still need to know what religion you are refering to debate.

But...religion is a belief system, whether you are muslim, christian, agnostic or whatever. And most religions are based on opinions and rhetoric that very seldom are based on fact, and are thus...fiction!!!
