Because of their neighbors and defending their right to be there... there is still so much anti-Semitism in the world, that Israel will always have to be a strong military state. It's sad, really.

defending themselves against people that go on buses and blow up kids? or that they want to stop rockets from being fired on their towns? As I recall they left Gaza and it promptly became a place for thugs and muslim terrorist killers.
