Very good question.
Satan is definitely one of the creatures of Allmighty Allah and used to be the most obedient one but once he defied the order of Allah the Almighty he became most avoidable person.
Then he asked Allah the Almighty to give him chance to distract the human being showing that he is not alone in this disobedience. Allah the Almigthy deferred his punishment.
What I want to tell here that This is Allah the Almighty who created him and allowed him to do whatever he wants otherwise he can not do anything at all. Allah the Almighty has the power to destroy satan anytime but Allah the Almighty keeps the word.
By giving permission to satan, Allah the Almighty really wants to try his creatures for their belief and faith.

It's not that God "can't" destroy Satan - it's that God chooses not to destroy Satan. To think otherwise would limit God and make Him not god-like.
I think God cherishes His creations. He very lovingly made not only this world but the angels and us as well. God destroying something like we might "erase" a file on a PC - meaning wiping it out of existence in both a physical and spiritual sense - is not found in the Bible.
Remember that God and Satan are not "opposites". God is the Creator and Satan is part of God's Creation. Being part of His Creation means that He loves you, but he lets you go the way you choose. If you choose a way that's not good for you - a way that goes against what He sees is best - then He lets you do that out of His love for you. If that way means choosing a path that leads to Hell, then He allows that.
Hell is not "destruction" - it's eternal separation from God and His blessings. It's much better to choose God's ways and receive His blessings.

God created everything good, but the good creation had the potential to become corrupt God uses everything for His glory and the good of those who love God, including Satan
Today is the day of mercy and salvation, of choosing between darkness and light. Satan will be destroyed but not yet.
Interstinlgly look at Job 1, God turns Satans attention to Job... and in a sense is using Satan to accomplish a greater purpose
God superintends evil things for His glory and our good.
God used Satan to nail Jesus to the cross and in asence the cross was an evil and in a sense the cross a sourse of great mercy and goodness
God will destroy Satan but not yet. Jesus came to destoy the works of the devil and some day in the new heavens and new earth only righteousness will dwell and Satan will be thrown in the lake of fire along will all who ultimately chose to love darkness rather than light.

All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God's adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14.)

God created angels. That is what satan was before he rebelled against God. Pride had Lucifer, the angel, thinking he could exalt himself up above God. He was cast out of heaven, and took a third of the heavenly host with him.
God has a place reserved for satan. A place called the lake of fire. That's where God will put him one day....and that is where he will remain, for all of time.

God can destroy Satan but doesn't an eternity in a lake of fire sound like a much more severe punishment?

I think that it proves the point that everyone was created in his image, but satan chose to turn away. God would not destroy satan because everyone has a choice.

Personally I don't believe in Satan or Hell. God is all powerful, and all misfortune that befalls humans is a result of God making the human soul incomplete, and therefore it faces trials and tribulations on Earth to complete it. Satan is merely a metaphor forr the evil urges you as a human feel, and the only hell you can go to after you die is the one that you make for yourself. Human free will is also the other sourcce of misfortune among humans, as bad things happen as a result of human choices. Free will is the greatest gift God has given us, and some literature displays angels that are envious of that gift.

O.K. very good question but in the wrong perspective u see, GOD is not warrior by nature he is so only when it comes to defending us his children, GOD allows satan to do what he wants as HE knows he has already won the battle and plus if HE does so satan would then ask GOD to destroy us human beings first, who offend GOD in so many ways so chin up and dont you worry GOD's plans and thoughts are above our thoughts. got any more questions ask me or anyone this is my id vinshady03@yahoo.com, mail me if you want to ti;; then adios
